We had the good fortune of connecting with Toi Henderson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Toi, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
“ I’ve learned that you can’t have everything and do everything at the same time. – Oprah Winfrey When I first saw this quote I was struggling trying to figure out the balance of doing what I love and working a 9-5 to pay the bills. I haven’t mastered it just yet, but I’m working towards a medium.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Being a Artist/ Creative is hard work, And a lot of people won’t understand your vision. Overcoming not being accepted was the biggest challenge for me. I had to examine myself on why I got rejected, deal with it and make the necessary changes.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There are a ton of seemingly great options in Louisiana. Even though I stay on the outskirts of New Orleans when I’m ready for a good time I take that hour drive. Shopping at Canal Place is priority! It’s so many outdoor activities and if you come at the right time you might catch a good NBA game at the smoothie king center or NFL game at the super dome. My current favorite restaurant is Jack Rose they have some of the best food in the city THIS PLACE IS HEAVEN! No, seriously. The aesthetics of this restaurant is bomb and the drinks are uniquely made. Located in the historic Pontchartrain Hotel. Jack Rose features menu items that are a mix of New Orleans’ craveable Italian, French and Spanish dishes. I could go on and on of things to do in Nola it truly is something for everyone. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
In my life I’ve met some truly amazing people. Aside from my wife, my sweet friend Lisa has supported me since the day we met. Few people possess the considerate, unselfish, loving heart that you have. Lisa has truly held me accountable. On days I felt discouraged, uncertain, or just didn’t want to complete a job she was there making sure I didn’t stop. Now she can get a little aggressive lol but I know she means well. You are such a deserving person and I pray that your cup is filled with all the love and support you pour onto others. You are enormously thanked and endlessly appreciated.
