We had the good fortune of connecting with Samantha Overton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Samantha, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was, “With my special gift, how can I support myself financially by making others happy and doing what I love simultaneously ” and boom, here I am bringing visuals to life.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
Every session, I make it my goal to go beyond my last session, rather it’s learning a new editing tool, creating my props, or posing my models to do the impossible. I got into the photography field when I was going through a dark time in life so taking it serious and being consistent was a battle for me, but I wouldn’t stop doing what I love under no circumstances! The lessons I learned is people value great customer service no matter what the business is and consistency is the key

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Whenever clients book me and they are from out of town, I suggest they take their pictures downtown of Beaumont, Texas. It gives off a 90’s vintage look. Nice scenery, restaurants and parks. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Anyone who has literally supported my business!! It’s so many people including family and friends! However, I am in an organization called Black Female photographers where I have learned so much and worked with some magnificent people! I also supported their photography business in some way such as learning how to perfect my work; Symone Sevyn , Kamia Williams, Kiara Symone.
