We had the good fortune of connecting with LaKisha Sanders and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi LaKisha, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Starting Sereniti Life actually started from a conversation that I had with my mother. I wanted to really create something where I can contribute to society, help people heal, find peace, and push them into their destiny . During that time of my life, I experienced so many people who were hurting and needed something new and a book was the route I was really going at first. That conversation was the last one I had with my mother- 2 days later my mother passed away. I credit that last conversation with my mother for the reason that Sereniti Life was started. Her death pushed me to want to get some peace and some healing for myself, the very same way I want it for others.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My work is what I consider generational wealth building. The path that I have been on is one that would allow my children and my childrens children to have it much easier than I ever had. My brand and my future is something that I completely credit to my up-bringing and my faith. Challenges will come as a result of the work and not always having the correct resources, but because my trust and my faith is strong, I am a believer in the fact that I will always have exactly what I need.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oooooh so that sounds fun! I am a girl who loves food and food loves me. I probably would start off with a few brunch spots in the city. One of my favorites is called The Whale. After choosing food spots, we would probably hang out in some amazing neighborhoods taking in some Chicago sun and having a good time.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My Husband (Antoine E. Sanders) and my children (Symphoni, Ketwone, and Amari). They are all my biggest pushers and they believe in me even when I do not believe in myself. They affirm my gifts and even when I have the craziest of ideas, they say… lets do it! I do what I do because of them!
