We had the good fortune of connecting with Julie McLemore and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Julie, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
Wow, this is a really big question. I want to say that during my whole life I have always been inspired by my family, I know, it might sound cliche but it’s the true. They play a huge role in my life and have shaped me into what I am today. They inspire me to be better for me, for my business and for my future. To me there is nothing bigger than this (Harry Styles is out there as well, haha!)
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I wanted to set my brand and business around positivity, love and all of those amazing feelings, I wanted other people to enjoy and feel comfortable in their own skin even if it was just for a little bit. It makes me feel so proud when I can tell my clients love the pictures we took and I love to see their smiles not only in their mouths but also in their eyes. There are days where I just want to give up but that is not a possibility. I know I do this because I want to help people to love who they are and to treasure all the memories we create, me by taking the pictures and them by just being themselves and loving one another.
I have learned many things in this 3 years Photography Angels has been around, the biggest? Enjoy because life is short. Be positive and stay in the right path.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
So on Monday we would go for a little walk at WG Jones State Forest and to eat at this AMAZING asian restaurant called Aji Robota in The Woodlands. We would probably end the night at Cinepolis and watch a movie. On Tuesday we would go have brunch at The Cookshack and eat their delicious chicken and waffles, for dessert we would visit my favorite ice cream place in Houston, called Jeni’s!
For Wednesday we would go take cute pictures at Smither’s park and we could even go watch The Houston Astros. For dinner we are having birria tacos from TJ Birria.
I could keep listing a bunch of super cool restaurants but I think that might be a little too long. If you visit Houston you need to visit Cidercade (21+) as well as Hermann Park or all of the cool museums Houston has to offer!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The list is endless but I want to give a big shoutout to the love of my life, my little tiny baby Kalila, my beautiful mother, my super cool aunts and handsome uncle, my amazing parents in law, the 3 angels that watch over me every single day, Harry Styles, but specially God! He deserves all the recognition in this world. For him and to him.
