We had the good fortune of connecting with Vanessa Lee and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Vanessa, what inspires you?
Growing up, I loved listening to stories that my grandma shared with us. I’m most drawn not only to the content of the stories but how the story is told. Just like how stories are passed down from one generation to the next, I see each wedding and event I’m a part of as the intersection between someone’s past and their future story to be written.

For me, inspiration can come from anywhere. A color, word, scent, moment, and item can all evoke emotions associated with it to inspire how I approach telling a couple’s story. Being a night owl, it’s not surprising that most of my ideas come late at night.

What should our readers know about your business?
Taking that leap of faith to start a business requires a lot of passion and patience. Although I’m just getting started, I find that being humble and teachable are both very important qualities to have. Having a business doesn’t mean you have to do it all by yourself. Oftentimes, it requires a lot of collaborative effort and support from family, friends, and people you cross paths with. I am especially thankful to all the couples and vendors that have become dear friends and continue to walk alongside me.

My brand started in 2018 after I planned my own wedding, but it was more of a hobby since I was still teaching elementary at the time. Fast forward to 2020, I had the privilege to work with a professional company and then later on decided to branch out, relaunch, and nourish my brand again. My inspiration, my dad, behind this relaunch is explained in more detail on my website.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
With the scorching Texas heat, I usually prefer staying indoors and enjoy something refreshing, so that’s where we’ll start! My favorite sweets places include Nekter Juice Bar, Sustain Juicery, Jeni’s Ice Cream, and Sweet Paris. My favorite drink places are 7 Leaves, Tea Top, Anonymous Cafe & Coffee, Cavo, and Summer Moon.

When it comes to outdoors, I really enjoy McGovern Centennial Gardens because it’s lush with greenery (beautiful blooms in the spring) and is a wonderful place to hang out and get some fresh air.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to dedicate this shoutout to my husband, who has been the biggest supporter of all the ideas that I have. He encourages me to try things out but do so in an intentional way to really learn and grow.
