We had the good fortune of connecting with Taylor Luna and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Taylor, why did you pursue a creative career?
I pursue my artistic career because it’s what makes me happy. I feel as if there isn’t a point in putting Time into something if you don’t have love or passion driven behind it.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
what sets me apart from others is just risk taking. You gotta take every risk you can to get the where you want to be. I also feel as if nothing sets me apart. We are all in this together, we all carry love on a day to day basis and that’s what brings us together. I move my art by love and passion just like how everyone else moves in life. I got to where I’m at today by meeting people and not being scared to ask questions. A lot of the side jobs I get now is from just saying what’s up. Honestly nothing is easy. If it were easy then everyone would do it. The challenges that you come across are never hard ethier. The harder the challenge the more passion And love you push into the art piece and the same can be said towards life too. Some of the most important lessons I’ve learned so far is to just get out the house and don’t get scared to go places. If you stay in the house all day every day you expect the opportunities to fall to you but really you need to get out there And find those opportunities to fall into. The only thing I want anyone to know is “ you have a choice” my story is about choices. I choose to wake up And do this art stuff everyday. I feel like a lot of people forget that life is a choice. You choose to go into a job you don’t like everyday so why can you choose to find a better one. Choose to be happy everyday. Mental health is important.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Im lucky cause I live in Houston! I would take my home boy to Montrose and hit up some bars possibly. I’m also more of a museum and parks kinda guy so I would for sure go to discovery green and the science museum. I feel like it would be a crime if I didn’t say the galleria too! Lol. There’s always something poppin here I’m H-Town!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are so many people that have helped me get to where I’m at thus far in my journey. I give credit and thanks to all my HSPVA teachers and freinds! without them I wouldn’t have the understanding or perception I do about art at all. My mom for sure has always been #1 in my line of support my whole life. Without her I really feel like I wouldn’t be able to bring out the true emotion I do in my works. She helped me figure out my inner true self and helps me learn every day a new step in life! My sister is a huge supporter too! Shes always promoting my art work at her school! My girlfriend is such a huge help also! Without her there would have been a couple of art opportunities that would have passed by for sure! I definitely have to shout out my new mentor too, Robert Hodge! He is opening my eyes to a new side of art and I’m so grateful to have him show me a new pathway in my career. I’m seriously so blessed to have everyone I do on my side if the ring!
