We had the good fortune of connecting with Camilla Pigott and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Camilla, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
I’am a mom to three beautiful kids and they are my top priority. I believe that one of the most important things that I’ve done is showing up for myself. Showing up for myself has had such an impact on them because they know that mommy is going to make things happen. I don’t sit around and wait for anything to be handed to me. My oldest is soon to be eleven and she understands that everything is earned, nothing is free. She witnesses my long days more that the other two, she also understands that those days provides them with all of their necessities and luxuries. I hope to believe that my work ethic will be a positive impact on their future to get out and do what needs to be done to secure the life that they would want to live.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business is Millie P’s formerly known as Millie P’s Sweets. I have now been going strong for 4 years now. I honestly never saw this for myself. I always thought that I would be a nurse or somewhere in the medical field. I got here by default. I know it sounds crazy but God had plans for me that I couldn’t imagine. I kept praying to be more involved with my kids activities and have more of a home life. I never knew how I would achieve that. I worked as medical assistant for 5 years before I became pregnant with my youngest daughter. I experienced some complications which my husband took as I needed a break. So we moved to Louisiana (I am from New Orleans originally) where we would be able to live comfortably on one income. After a few months off I tried to find employment with no luck which led to depressive episodes. Out of that I started to bake things here and there. I had tried my hand it baking before but never took it serious. Eventually people in the neighborhood started to order and I’ve never looked back. It was hard for me because being so use to working, having the down time and the thoughts of the unknown bothered me. Being in business for yourself, it is sometimes hard to know if there will be a payday next week. I let go and let God, since then he has blessed me with all of those things I’ve prayed for. I’ve learned that the picture is always bigger than us. Sometimes we focus so much on the now that we don’t see the full story or potential in circumstances. If I would have forced myself to stay working, I would have never come this far. Millie P’s was born to bring me happiness and others. There is something special about seeing the reactions from customers when they receive their items and I’ve bought their vision to life. That does something for me, for my soul. I do my best to make sure that not only do my clients receive great customer service but that they receive quality for their hard earned money.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
SO I am a huge Korean BBQ fan, anything Korean pumps me up. LOL There is this place called CHI’Lantro and it is hands down my ultimate favorite place. I get a bowl with noodles, kimchi, soy glazed chicken, veggies and this vinaigrette. They also have these loaded Kimchi fries that’s to die for. 360 bridge would be amazing for my best friend being that she has never seen a view like that before. I think we would city hop! LOL!! Head to Dallas and enjoy their downtown scenery and visit Legacy Hall. San Antonio river walk just for the experience. I don’t like to stay in one spot.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My shoutout would have to go to my husband. He deserves all of the credit for pushing me to do my best. There were times where he only had $5 left to his name, but he never hesitated to give it to me to invest in myself. He has been my biggest cheerleader and support system. No idea ever seems to crazy to him even when I’m doubting myself.
