We had the good fortune of connecting with Kimmie Doll Styles L.L.C. and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kimmie Doll Styles, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I have always been a plus sized or what one would called “plush” sized woman and im also taller than the average woman, as a child I would always alter my clothing as to be different. That has grown into a passion for which im able to make everyone feel good about themselves while providing the “experience” of luxury services at an affordable price.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Im what id like to be known as a “Culture Creative”… I create beautiful experiences in the form of Clothing, Customer pieces and Interior Decor. Ive been in the fashion industry about 6 years and I got here with the help of friends who were ready in the industry and my friends allowing me to do free jobs in styling and interior decor to create content to post and gain other jobs. Nothing that you truly have passion for is hard, because its what you actually love doing, however ive had a lot of doors closed on my face and ive never stopped. Every hurdle is a lesson or an experience that will either make or break you. Im a hard worker so I never let one door deter me from the goal of becoming a household brand. Along this journey ive learned many lessons but the most important have been 1) Never stop learning 2) Never stop promoting yourself 3) Always remain teachable and last but not least 4) Keep Growing. One thing id like the world to know is that im ever-growing and if you haven’t experienced Kimmie Doll you soon will. Love & Light!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Im all about Culture so of Course we are going to all the spot in and around the Third Ward area because that what made me the dope person I am today. First stop for food Turkey Leg Hut, its owned by a fellow Lion who attended Jack Yates High School with me. Next we would have to go to visit Third Ward Bike Tours and book a tour of Tour De Thrd Ward just to see the culture and experience the Greater Third Ward neighborhood in its rawness. Next we would go to Project Row House founded in 1993 and it support community based arts and culture creators like myself. If we get hungry along the way we will visit the original Frenchys Chicken which has recently moved however its the Still THE Original. While on our tour we would of course visit the Ilustrious campus of Texas Southern University which happens to be my Alma Mater. We would go by a couple spots in the Montrose area just because I love my LGBTQ+ family and they are dope and always provide a major experience. While out of course we would visit “the Spot” and “D bar” bot are known to make certain you enjoy some great music and nice drinks. and last but not least we would visit the newly built Jack Yates High School because I will forever be JY Fly and id love my people to experience the emobodiement of the Heart of a Lion.
