We had the good fortune of connecting with Kristin Sumrall and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kristin, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I grew up in an entrepreneur-based family; I watched my grandfather & my father grow their business from the ground up and it sincerely led me to think this was also the only option for myself, When it comes to taking risks, starting a business is just a huge gamble..I knew that going into it. For years I knew what I wanted to do with my life and my career, but I never felt ready to place that bet. The best (and most life changing) advice I’ve ever gotten was from my father: “If it were easy, everyone would do it. If you fail, it won’t kill you.” And as simple as that may sound, it was all I needed to hear to get over my fear of taking the leap into what is now Neon Blonde Parlour.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Neon Blonde Parlour is so much more than just a high-end hair salon. I feel what sets us apart is our edgy & fun vibe, and more so our intentional relationships with our clients. We take such pride in knowing that our guests thoroughly enjoy themselves when they come in, and leave feeling like we are all friends! Gorgeous, envy-worthy hair is obviously a plus.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Neon Blonde Parlour wouldn’t even be a thing if it weren’t for my family, friends, team, & clientele. Most importantly my husband and my father, who support me and push me to be the best I can be always. Equally as important is my business manager Kindell, and my first hire ever, Taylor. They have believed in my goals from day one, and have been the glue that holds it all together. They treat NBP like their own dream and I can never thank them enough for it. Their husbands also get roped into manual labor at the salon more often than not! My staff is more like a circle of friends whom I trust and adore, they all work so hard and uphold my expectations of being a business of integrity and compassion.
