We had the good fortune of connecting with Tre’Von Lewis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tre’Von, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I wanted to break the “traditional “ cycle of working a 9-5. I wanted to build generational wealth and leave a legacy behind. My grandfather asked me a question when I was younger that stuck with me “what will your legacy be”? I often thought about it and even to this day I think about it. I remember working odd jobs and asking the question if I’m making this much and the people around me are making this much how much is the owner making to pay all of us? So I started doing research and reading on how to run a business. I had to pick something I’m passionate about and dive into it without any hesitation. I was very interested in telecommunications and learned about fiber optics and how it’s the future of communications. I got certified in fiber optics and learned the trade and started working for myself and I haven’t looked back since.

What should our readers know about your business?
Lewis Fiber Construction LLC started with a dream. I wanted to build a legacy and leave generational wealth. I work for myself and I am proud to say that I own a business with my family name on it. I have hit a lot of rough patches with my company because I was green and it was all new to me. There were horrible contracts and lowball offers because the contractors can smell a newbie. I thank God for the failures because now my company this year has tripled the profits from when I first started. You can’t be scared to invest money because you’ll never make money thinking you’re going to lose your money. Not all investments will work out but most will. You just have to do your research and know what you are investing in. I took a chance and put all my money towards my business and now I’m making lucrative money. Anybody can make an LLC but is your revenue minus expenses still making profit? Profit is the goal!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would say the person who could get you in the right places to party is @Eric_Spivey that’s his Instagram. He will get you into clubs and show you the Houston scene. My cousin Instagram @chef_deleon88 has the best food truck and catering service around. He also can get you into any club and get you the best drinks. I don’t really party but I love a lounge somewhere chill and for the grown folks.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have two people I would like to dedicate this shout-out to my best friend Kendra Williams MD and my brother Stephen Mask.

Kendra has always had my back through thick and thin. We tell one another everything and she always pushing me to be better. We went through a lot of the same things growing up and she prevailed and became a doctor. She didn’t let nothing or no one hold her back from being successful even though there were tough times she made it. She keeps me motivated and I know without a shadow of doubt she will always have my back. She’s a friend that’s here for a life time and not a season. She’s a true blessing to me and I thank God for placing her in my life.

Stephen is my best friend since knee high. He’s my brother and a true friend. When I went through a rough patch last year and people started turning on me Stephen was there for me to talk to. I can call him anytime day or night and believe me he will be there vise versa. You have people that come in your life and you call them “friend” but they only stay for a season. You don’t find true friends and loyal friends in life often but Stephen is one. Stephen went through a traumatic experience when his heart stopped a few years back. I remember seeing him on the table “I’m sorry I get emotional because that’s my brother “ with tubes in his mouth. The doctors were saying he wouldn’t walk again he wouldn’t be able to do this and do that but you can’t say what God wont do. He’s walking talking has a relationship and he’s living his life. He has a book called Another Slam Dunk written by his mother Tammie Lewis Mask that tells his story. Please go and order it on Amazon to show support and truly learn his story. He’s a walking testimony and definitely one of my biggest inspirations.
