We had the good fortune of connecting with Adam Warlock and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Adam, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Unlike others, for me personally I wouldn’t call it ‘pursuing a creative career’. Especially when at my core I’m a creative first so it’s naturally already embedded in my own DNA in a way. I just thoroughly enjoy and envy the arts & love to see different ideas and waves take shape in the world. When it comes to music production it can more or less provide a sense of therapy. If for example, I’m going through a crucial moment in my own journey- that can be inspiration to a new work of art more than half the time. Whether it be through lyrics, a new melody, or a new edit it can be transferred to almost anything I choose to do. It’s why I keep pushing for it, the art. Very few people actually know the behind the scenes work that takes place to do the things you love or are great at.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
So to be blunt, unlike other creatives I don’t release or put my art out unless it’s the final product. Or unless I feel comfortable doing so. I never put 3-4 projects out in one calendar year, it’s just something that I could never do personally. That’s one of many things that sets me apart from other artist. I protect & critique my own craft to the max so I have to always make sure that it’s the best I have to give whenever I do release something. I take time with the work that I do that’s why come winter when I drop my EP (NIGHTS EP) it’ll be the first official project of mine on all streaming platforms since Revenge 2017s, which was my first beat tape that I put out commercially. But learning to be patient with my own work was something that I had to meditate on for a long time. In my early stages I remember I would be so eager to release almost everything that I would produce, not knowing that certain things needed to be mastered or I actually might like this track over this melody or that it would need to take out this 808 drum pattern. It’s been for the best that I ended up keeping all of the previous work that I’ve done to continue to perfect my craft. But just know that I adore all the things that comes when you hear your favorite song or your favorite artist play. That’s what I strive to give my fans in the future. To let them know that in certain situations this music can help you in some ways. Even when you’re at your best, there’s a song for that & you better believe that at your lowest there will be a song that keeps you sane when the world around you gets crazy.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oh man, how would I even go about doing this. The world is barely opening back up after a year of Corona & everything. But I would definitely take them downtown, Houston has way too many underground parks & trails that people rarely go on. Then while we’re still downtown we’ll go see the city lights and just enjoy the view of city moving at night.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mother will always be the inspiration for what I do in this world, obviously. She has been the muse for most of my early work when I first started in music production. Back when I was just happy to put something out online, her presence was felt heavily in my last two projects that I created. But someone else that has always been in my corner when it comes to the arts has been PeacefulJoshua without a doubt. Ever since around 2017 when we first came together for studio work he’s taught me things that I didn’t know for myself at the time. There has been many tricks & patterns that he has shown me to help aid me when it comes to my own production and studio time. Lately there has even been a few local artist that have caught my eye as well. Hopefully I’m able to work with them in the future too since they have also shown to be masters in their own world at times. But at the end of the day I always credit myself when it comes to my work. I am my own inspiration & I write my own story. And believe me I’m not finished yet.
