We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexandria Ward and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alexandria, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my success is my relationship with God. That is the key. We all define success differently, but my definition of a successful business or brand is one that fulfills our God given purpose here on Earth. My success is rooted in my relationship with God and the reason He has me here. As long as I know my reason I am here, success isn’t beyond my reach.
In my industry, it requires a lot of mental and emotional stability. It requires wisdom, the ability to be a problem solver and a quick thinker. It requires discipline and focus.
These are things I would not have without my relationship with God.
I put Him first, in everything. When I need a marketing strategy, I’m in prayer about it. In client dealings, I seek God for strength but also the wisdom to deal with different personalities, gracefully.
My relationship is the key factor because there would not be an effective or impactful brand without it.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As a multifaceted strategist, I have had the opportunity to flow in different lanes including branding, marketing, and public relations. It took me taking a leap of faith and reaching out to a CEO of a multi-million dollar company and securing a position within the company to get to where I am. It took consistency and believing in myself to excel and progress. It came with challenges that required for me to deal with internal struggles of unworthiness and heal from rejection to overcome challenges. I had to quickly realize that challenges confront what is happening on the inside. Challenges present themselves so that we can become better versions of ourselves and overall become better in our respective roles and industries. Challenges make you
My greatest lessons are all rooted in – communication. Success is the byproduct of effective communication. Effective communication is more about listening effectively first, processing, and asking the right questions. Effective communication prevents division. You cannot divide what has been decided and understood.
Another lesson I have learned is to always be a learner. Commit yourself to learning because you do not know everything, but to also give yourself grace in moments when you don’t.
Lastly, I have learned that legacy is built through our daily lives. Legacy is built and sustained through daily interactions, how we serve, how we treat people. So build intentionally, so when you leave the earth or you leave a room, people will remember you.
I want the world to know that my brand, the journey and the story of my brand is rooted in faith. Each mount of success was preceded by a leap of faith. Trusting in the one who created me and believing that he has me every step of the way.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We are going shopping and to all the best restaurants! Chicago has the best food in the country, in my opinion. The options are diverse.
Shopping on Michigan Ave, or visiting places like Oakbrook and Rosemont, provides a luxury experience.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Yes! My husband, Frederick E. Ward Jr.
My husband has always been my biggest motivator and push. He believed in me before anyone else did. He supports me in my random, yet radical, ideas and encourages me to pursue them relentlessly.
My husband is an extraordinary visionary. His vision and pursuit for helping people and strengthening our community is second to none.
He is a branding genius and a man of excellence.
