We had the good fortune of connecting with Amanda Tran and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Amanda, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I pursued such an artistic and creative career because I love the drive. I enjoy growing and being creative in what I do. I am an Aesthetic Assistant at Evolve Aesthetics and I also have my own small business freelancing makeup on the side. Both careers are constantly evolving and not only do I get to show my artistic side in each field, I get to grow into a boss.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I love being an Aesthetic Assistant and my own boss! It has been such a long and tough journey but I’m blessed to be doing something I enjoy and love. It took multiple jobs to get where I am today. I’ve always hustled, ever since I got into high school. I overcame so many challenges by not giving up and having my best friends and family by my side. Growing up in an Asian household, it was always finish school and get into the medical field. I never knew what my passions were and what I wanted to become until I grew a passion for makeup. I was self taught and had three sisters to practice on. I never knew I was good at it until people started asking to book with me. I opened up my instagram page back in 2018 and it has been slowly growing ever since! A few years later, I landed my aesthetics job in 2021 at Evolve Aesthetics Med Spa. I have been following Evalyn for so long and when she was looking for an assistant, I sent my resume in and got the job two months later. I’ve been here for about two years now and I’m honestly grateful for this career. Working for two small businesses is not the easiest but it has grown me into the woman I am today and I couldn’t be more proud of myself for all these accomplishments.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am an adventurous person. I love to travel and visit new places. I am honestly a go with the flow type of person and very free spirited. I love itineraries but I also love to just plan things along the way. My best friend and I love to go out and get dolled up. Our favorite thing to do is eat. I am definitely a foodie and will always pick sushi, she’s more of a Mexican type of gal. If we’re not drinking at the restaurant, we’ll most likely go to something casual or intimate like Clarkwood or bar hop near the Heights or Westheimer. We are also very adventurous and will either plan to go to a pottery class or rage room. Depending on our mood. Shopping is also another one of our favorite activities to do besides eat.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I am not where I am today without my family and friends. Supporting me and my decisions growing up. I honestly have the best support system and I couldn’t be more grateful. I want to dedicate all of my hard work to my mom. For raising and guiding me, even through the toughest times. She’s always been by my side through thick and thin. I also want to give recognition to my boss Evalyn. I wouldn’t be where I am today without her! I never knew what field I wanted to pursue and once I got into the aesthetic field. This is what I’m good at and I couldn’t be more grateful.
