Meet Amy Palacios

We had the good fortune of connecting with Amy Palacios and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Amy, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
As a single mother raising my 2 children..I always wanted to set an example. I wanted my kids to see the passion is have doing hair. That I never gave up and at the same time one day, they can have the same motivation to pursue their own dreams.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As a kid, I had a passion for braiding. It’s something that always fascinated me. To learn and create something of my own. Later, while in college..I just loved the whole hair transformation. To see the smiles on people’s faces.
I’d want people to know that I’m very passionate with my work. I’m honest and I truly care. I’m not like other stylist…I’m different. I’ve been truly blessed.
In 2009, I was a victim on family violence. Left for dead in a field near my hometown. I thank god for waking me up and giving me another chance to make something better of myself. From that day, I kept pushing myself and wanted my kids to have a better life. Giving up wasn’t an option. My kids have been my motivation. I feel that mothers don’t give their selves enough credit. We as women were built to be strong.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my friends were in town visiting, first place I’d take them is to Dk crawfish! I’m all about supporting small businesses here in Alvin. They are the most down to earth people with awesome customer service! You won’t be disappointed. Another place I love in Alvin for drinks and a good time is Martinez restaurant. Best drinks in town and they have a Dj on the weekends. Majority of the time, I’m either fishing or just hanging out with family and friends

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate this to my mother, Julie Garza Daniel..for always supporting me throughout this journey. She past away in 2023 with stage 4 stomach cancer twice. It was definitely hard losing her and lord knows I miss her. Thank you for always believing in me
