We had the good fortune of connecting with Ana Romero and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ana, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
One thing and probably the most important is, how much competitors this industry has. I started this business years ago in my country Venezuela, and the market is totally different and the way it moves there is more organic. There the online sales are mostly by Social Media and aren’t necessary to have a web site or belong to a Market Place to get success. But here in The United States, I was unaware of how much brands of handmade jewelry you can find on Etsy, Shopify, etc, and also you have access to brands from other countries, which is overwhelming because you have to compete with them as well, but it is so great at the same time due to your brand can reaching costumers from those countries too, so that’s pretty awesome to me. All these things make the work even more difficult, but when you love what you do, you put all your effort and heart to do it great, and the most important thing is to enjoy the process and learn every day how to getting better.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
This is a little brand running on my own, I take care of every detail. I like to make jewelry that shows the delicate and subtle essence of women, jewelry that any woman no matter her age can wear on any occasion, to go to an important event or even to the grocery store. Create Statement Jewels for modern women and girls who love fashion and trends is my passion, and I love to give them what they want, beautiful, meaningful, high quality and affordable jewelry. For me, the step by step to make a piece of jewellery is a beautiful process. From the design, production, taking pictures of my designs, running my market place, then deliver the unique piece on the hands of those beautiful women who will wear it and last but not least read those messages and reviews from my costumers saying how happy they are with their new little piece of sky, this last thing make my day and does my work has a meaning!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Since I live in Memorial Area, one of my favourite place to go for a nice meal, movie, walk and shop is City Centre. My favourite spots there are Sweet Paris because I love their Crepes, also Sal y Pimienta is a great meat restaurant, you can get a variety of meat cuts, cheese and wine. Few minutes from there you can find Grub, it is a burger and beer place, the burgers and fries are so delicious and it is a cosy place, not to crow! The Museum District, Discovery Green Park and Bayou Park for sure would be a stop. A night walking and hanging out in Downtown (Main Street and surrenders) is a must. Kemah for sure has a day on the schedule. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Well, my family at some point was a big support in my firsts steps in Venezuela. Since I moved here three years ago, the one who has become my master key in all this new process here is my boyfriend, I think without his support, help and advice it would have been more difficult and hard.
