We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley Barnett and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ashley, do you have a budget? how do you think about personal finances?
Yes; I absolutely have a budget. On a monthly basis, I visit my budget to evaluate the amount I plan to save as well as the different lifestyle events that needs to occur. Prioritizing my personal finances according to due dates and goals that I am seeking to accomplish is very important to me.
What should our readers know about your business?
I am the Owner of ABarnett Style as well as Snap and Go Photobooth LLC. ABarnett Style consists of personal styling, photo shoot styling as well as closet organization. Snap and Go Photobooth LLC is a portable photo booth that caters to different events such as: weddings, birthday parties, corporate events and etc. I started off working at the age of 16, majority of my work experience has been in Specialty Retail Management. I have put in several years of building corporations and their brands that did not belong to me. So, I figured if I could successfully contribute to building my previous employers corporation(s), then I could certainly build my own. Plus, I wanted to put my B. A. in Business Management to good use. I am most proud of having two businesses that I not only have a deep passion for, but the opportunity to have consistent clientele. It has not always been easy and quite honestly challenges still arise here and there, but hard work, good work ethic, persistence, and a positive attitude goes a very long way. Lessons that I have learned along the way is that entrepreneurship is not the easiest, but it is worth the hard work. I hope my story encourages someone to step out and take the leap of faith to start their business regardless of how saturated the market may be, “you” are the difference.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting the area, we would grab food from one or all of the following: Breakfast Klub, Tiny’s No. 5, Tiny’s Milk and Cookies, BB’s Cafe or Rosement Rooftop. We would more than likely hang out in the River Oaks District or Upper Kirby area. I would also make plans for them to visit Galleria Houston, since it’s well known for having a variety of brands to shop. Lastly, we would visit Downtown Houston for sightseeing and make it point to stop by Discovery Green.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have many people that I have thanked along my journey of success. However, I want to dedicate this shoutout to my brother, Cortney. Cortney, this shout out goes to you for always believing in me, encouraging me to never limit myself, pushing me to go harder and reminding me how much you admire my ambition or “hustle” as you say!
