We had the good fortune of connecting with Azundra Perrot and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Azundra, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
As a parent to a young black boy, the most important thing that I have done is teach him the importance of hard work. His father and I instill in him daily nothing comes easy, you have to work for everything. We created a job for him with AZ Events, he is learning more about the business each and everyday. He comes with me to the setups and watches how I work with my clients. He’s at that age where what I show him now he will remember forever and he’ll be able to use it when he starts his own business or maybe even take over AZ Events. The goal is to create generational wealth and a family business that creates jobs for everyone to be successful.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
AZ Events is a small black owned business, we specialize in event planning. We are based in Houston but we also travel for special events as well. I am most proud of the growth that has taken place in just two years. Starting out it was not easy, and to be transparent there are still struggles and new challenges everyday. In the beginning there was a lot of self doubt, I often questioned was I good enough, would I be able to get clients, could AZ Events actually be successful? The answer is YES, two years later we are still elevating, growing and learning new things everyday. AZ Events was launched August of 2019, shortly after covid 19 epidemic shook the nation. During the time of lock down AZ Events wasn’t able to operate, I had to think of ways to elevate AZ Events how can I improve this business I love so much so that way I’d be ready when we could all celebrate with our loved ones again. There were several pep talks and encouragement from my fiancé and my sister, they kept me grounded during that time. Once the restrictions were lifted my supporters and clients stepped up and I began creating beautiful events instantly, AZ Events was back, better than ever and thriving. I’ve learned that with business you’re always learning, no one ever has it all figured out, you can always improve and that’s the beauty of the business, just when you think you’ve made it pass a level there’s always another one. AZ Events strives to create experiences that family and friends can look back on and smile knowing that they have those memories with their loved ones.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Some of my favorite spots in Houston are restaurants, lol. I enjoy dining at Perry’s, Taste Bar, and Moxies to name a few. I’m really a homebody but if I hit the town it would be to a nice restaurant with speciality drinks.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate this to my fiancé, my sister, my son, my family and friends, Niesha Harris, and of course my amazing clients. Each and everyone of them has played an instrumental role in helping AZ Events grow and glow.
