We had the good fortune of connecting with Bre’anna Collins and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bre’anna, the decisions we make often shape our story in profound ways. What was one of the most difficult decisions you’ve had to make?
The most difficult decision I’ve ever had to make is taking the leap of faith and quitting my job before my business fully took off. I just had my first child in April, and he was born with an Epignathus Teratoma. It’s a fancy word for a tumor. It was about 3lbs and literally covered his entire face. Long story short, my son was in the NICU for almost 100 days. Due to the tumor, about 3cm of his jaw was removed, he had to get a tracheotomy, jaw distractor and gastrostomy. We were denied home healthcare through my insurance and he needs 24/hr care, so I have to be nurse mommy. I can’t work a set schedule and care for him because of the attention he needs right now. There’s so many procedures he’ll undergo over the next few years of his life, and I have to be in position to make sure those procedures are covered.  That’s what forced and inspired me to push Liqu’em into overdrive. Although business is still growing, God has been providing and bringing me new clients daily, simply from word of mouth! I admit, I wasn’t consistent before because I had my job as a safety net. Now that they’ve denied me additional time to heal and care for my son, I know I HAVE to make it happen. His dad helps as well of course, but it’s still something we have to hit the ground running full force with when we have a child that requires 24 hour care.

Although I don’t know where this journey will lead us, I’m focused and more motivated now than I ever was. Through stress, anxiety, post partum and just life, it’s rough, but I have God on my side and he’s prepared me for this! I just have to walk into it, even if it means blindly trusting Him! Liqu’em started in 2015 and as I previously stated, I hadn’t been the most consistent until now. That’s my reason! That’s my why! That’s my motivation!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve literally worked every kind of job there is but the most rewarding is my business. Prior to having my son, I worked for a bank as a Fraud Analyst. I assisted clients who’ve experienced fraud with their credit accounts. For instance, if  you’re in Houston and someone is using your card in Italy, I’m your person. I advocated for the clients, filed claims, filed fraud reports, etc. That position was rewarding to me simply because I like to help others. If I’m able, I’m there. So being able to retrieve innocent peoples’ money, advise them on how to protect themselves and their assets with said bank etc., was what I did it for. I worked hard and advanced quick with the company. I was offered management positions (declined due to personal reasons), and was at top of my team. I always received rewards and bonuses for my great stats and efficacy. I’m going to miss it, but greater is here! It definitely wasn’t easy performing this job and it took a lot of focus. I’ve learned many lessons along the way, Mainly patience! Lord knows I need more of it. I just want the world to know that when interacting with me you’re receiving genuine yet raw me. I pride myself in ensuring authenticity. That’s what the world needs more of!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My best friend is from Houston, but if she weren’t we’d definitely go to all of the areas I grew up in and places I’ve hung out at. I grew up in Southlawn Palms apartments on Scott St. and went to Foster Elementary before we moved to Alief in Southwest Houston.

I’d take her to my favorite Houston restaurants, and there is a lot of them. Specifically, we’d go to The Crawfish Pot off of 45s going towards Hobby airport, The Breakfast Klub Downtown, I’d take her to see Ali Saddiq at the Improv off of I-10, and then we’d hit Drink Houston if they weren’t closed of course. During the day we’d most likely be at Discovery Green or Hermann Park because we both love nature. I think I’m telling my age a bit, but that’s what we’d do.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost I’d like to shoutout my mom, Desiree! She’s been my ROCK throughout this journey of entrepreneurship and motherhood. ANYTHING I need and she’s coming for her baby. Lol! I owe her a lot and she will get it all as we continue to grow!

Secondly, I’d like to shoutout my best friend, Stephanie. She has been there for me through literally everything! She never judges and always have some witty encouragement for me. Her support is NEVER ending and she doesn’t know how many times she’s saved me from myself. I love her eternally for that. I mean, we’ve only been friends all of our lives, literally, lol.

I’d like to shoutout and thank my customers, both old and new! I want to thank them for their continued support and repeat orders. I want to thank them for every share, like, repost, and word of mouth promotion they do that helps my business to grow. And now that I’m growing my business for a purpose bigger than me, I’m just so grateful that they truly assist with that. Without them, Liqu’em could not be what it is today, nor what it will be in the future. I’m eternally grateful to them for trusting my talent and skills and allowing me to serve them. To my customers, I sincerely thank each of you!

Last but not least is my boyfriend, my sons father, my best friend etc., Justin! Y’all get the point! Lol. He has been here for me through everything as he is experiencing everything along side me. I appreciate his kind heart and patience with a tough cookie like me. He’s been so supportive since day one and I appreciate everything he’s done and is doing for our family!

And I’d be remiss if I didn’t shoutout my big sisters, Ebonie and Bridgette, for their love and support as well!
