We had the good fortune of connecting with Bianca Postel and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bianca, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I pursued a creative career simply because I am a creative. If you were to look at my resume, you’d realize how extensive my skill trades are. I could never be confined to a M-F 9-5 job. Even though I invested in my college career and got a degree that landed me a pretty awesome “stable” and set schedule, I still lost myself and found myself supremely unhappy. I have always been drawn to something creative. From visual & performing arts to makeup & hair to photography & digital media, my passion is fueled by the endless possibilities of creating! And to be completely honest, I just didn’t want to work for anyone, so I decided to work for myself.!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
It had taken me about 2 years to fully commit to making photography my actual business and full time job. What sets me apart is that I am a one woman package. I have recently begun to offer hair & makeup with my packages to give my clients the full experience. I have been a makeup artist longer than a proposed photographer. In 2020, I began to style hair, then including all three services in an all inclusive deal. 2020, was also my last undergrad semester, the Covid outbreak and a worldwide pandemic. I couldn’t take photos, I couldn’t  do hair or makeup because life had came to a vault and everyone had to keep a distance. So I turned to what many else did, I became a plant lady. Me being the creative I am decided to paint my own planters and shortly after I had my Etsy shop started and boomin’. It’s almost as if I have ADHD – I’ve never been diagnosed so I cannot confirm – but I cannot sit still. I have to stay busy – stay creative – make something! Needless to say I do a little of a lot. Easy, you ask? Never! Because I didn’t chose the security of the 9-5, I have to hustle every day – 24/7! Every day is an opportunity for your business to grow, to learn and to produce. My dedication yo my true artistic self has gotten me this far, and I’ve only just begun! Follow my social media to see what else is coming for my business(s) this year!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

Depends on the friend and depends on the vibe. Houston is so diverse, there’s something for everyone. I’m forever a foodie, so food is a given on the itinerary.

Midtown is a must at any time of the day – happy hour – night vibes – so many cool places to check out and that are Instagram worthy. Oh and of course, the ART!! My, oh my how I love some authentic street art, so scavenging new murals and visits to the museums are a must!

Anyone who knows me, knows this, so I don’t mind sharing with everyone else.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?

There are so many I am thankful for. Of course first and foremost, my family and life partner.

Though my life choices have been non traditional and have raised question in doubt about securing a future, they’ve been proud of what I have shown them I can become. Having a supportive life partner is a tremendous blessing. I don’t think I’ve had anyone invest in me as much as she has.

Aisha Khan of AMA by Aisha. Although our time was cut short, I appreciate her generosity in mentoring and considering taking someone under her wing. She is a brilliant story teller, photographer and cinematographer. She has and will continue to be a huge inspiration to me. And her warehouse is just amazing! Maria Andulcin of The Montrose studios introduced me to the studio world and recently has decided to collaborate on styled shoots. She owns her own studios while juggling her own photography business.

I’ve made quite a few connects while on my journey but I cannot be this successful just due to networking. I ultimately could not have continued my growth and become a business without all of my lovely clients. Many of which who have become return clients. Having the opportunity to capture how an individual or family grows is so heart warming and rewarding.
