We had the good fortune of connecting with Bryan Swann and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bryan, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I think one of the biggest things is to always mix things up, and don’t let yourself get caught up in too much of a pattern. Constantly come up with new ideas and try things. Don’t be afraid to try something and it not work.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I think what sets BareBones Comics a part is that I am very comfortable talking about important topics like mental health, bullying, disease, and more that aren’t as widely discussed in the field. I want to touch people and leave them thinking when they finish the books.
Being patient has been a tough lesson. I want everything to be done so quickly and to share everything and I have learned that I have to pace things out and take my time.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oh hit me with the hard question. There’s a barbecue place around Arlington called Cokers that’s really good. Probably hit up Fuzzy’s Tacos, that’s always a good time.
Have to hit some of the local comic spots like Multiverse in Hurst, Collected in North Richland Hills, and Titan in Dallas.
As well as catch a show at like Amplified, Southside Ballroom or something too.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My wife deserves all the credit in the world. She constantly picks me up when I am feeling down and encourages me. She is my biggest cheerleader and supporter. I wouldn’t have made it to a 10 year anniversary for BareBones Ent or released multiple comics without her.
