We had the good fortune of connecting with Harold Chatman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Harold, what do you attribute your success to?
I will say the most important factor behind my success that has helped me get to where I’m today was being disciplined, focus and being consistent. Having a great support system, good mentorship in the beginning stages of my process, being able to listen more and doing less talking and also taking a ton of notes while putting action behind what I say I’m going to do. Lastly, just trusting the process and knowing that great things take time.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets us apart from other brands is we have no ego. We understand we all are human, we make mistakes and we all fall short. With that being said, we mainly focus on customer service, relating with our clients and coming up with the best possible solution in regards to our clients issue. We are completely fine with stating we don’t know and doing our research and coming up with a solution together that best suits our clients.

Currently as of 2022, we manufactured our very own collagen product called HVL Sparkle collagen. With that, we are slowly getting to the business of having our own product line. This is a very exciting process for the HVL-Well team. We have done countless research and we understand the pain-factors and the issues in this current market and we are just working on solving a problem and having a solution. We are beyond proud of this new business venture in manufacturing our own products.

It’s definitely not an easy path working for yourself just in general. Juggling so many hats and just trying to be in the top 1% to 5% of individuals in your field. I learned in the beginning I was providing just the bare minimum in services. As of now I give people more than what they’re asking for and that’s what helped my retention rate and also make me a qualified individual.

Also, understanding health is a very sensitive topic in this society and people are always wanting to optimize their health. As a realist, having hard conversations haven’t been the easiest for me, but being honest and straightforward people may not like what you have to say but they do respect it. So in the past I have struggled with those conversations but now they seem regular to me.

One thing I can say to make the road a little bit smooth and worth fighting is purpose drives, passion and passion drives purpose. If you can understand people’s problems and find a solution and there’s a demand, that’s all you need. Be relatable and understanding your own experiences with this issue, and being okay with not having all the answers.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We will start off the day with a workout since I’m in the health and wellness field to get the day started and then go to a nice brunch spot in Houston.

Then we’ll probably hit the museum district in South Houston and check out some history and also museums as well. I have an interest in health and science museums, so usually most of my friends that come out of town haven’t been there so I like to show them some historical artifacts.

Also, I’d take them to see a few historical parks in the Houston area as well as some nice entertainment such as a comedy show. Lastly, we would go check out some restaurants that are privately owned that has a different type of vibe to it.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I will start out by saying my mom because she raised me to become the man I am today with all the responsibilities she had me do when I was little. With that, I was able to juggle a lot of different tasks and responsibilities in the process. Playing a multitude of different sports when I was little, juggling having A’s and B’s and being in a strict household was very difficult, but it also taught me about discipline, focus and consistency at very early age.

Also, I will say one of my mentors, Dante, helped me get started in the health and fitness industry as I transitioned out of law enforcement. I didn’t have the mindset in the beginning but he coached me through it and also partnered with me as we built the business I have today. Now, I solely run the business on my own as he has taught me the ropes to get it started and keep it.
