We had the good fortune of connecting with Chelsea Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chelsea, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
I want my legacy to be one of inspiration and impact. I want people to say, ‘She set the tone for me.’ As a makeup artist, esthetician, and hairstylist, my goal is to stand out not just for my creativity, but for the way I make people feel. Every smile I capture in my videos represents the joy I bring to my clients, and that’s my favorite part of what I do.

I truly enjoy making others happy, and I hope to be remembered for my kindness and the love I pour into my craft. Enhancing someone’s natural beauty is more than just a service for me—it’s about spreading positivity and confidence. That’s the legacy I hope to leave behind.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Couture by CAT started in a cubicle at a law firm. One of my cousins, DeAnna, who I absolutely adore, was helping me brainstorm a name for my brand. I loved the word “Couture” because it captured the elegance I wanted my brand to represent while leaving room to expand beyond makeup. She suggested adding my initials, CAT, which felt perfect. Shoutout to DeAnna, a talented braider herself, for helping bring my vision to life!

I officially began my journey two days after graduating cosmetology school. My first booking was with the mother of a close high school friend, and although I was nervous, it turned out beautifully shout-out to Mama Tyra. From that moment, I knew this was my calling. I later worked in a mentor’s shop, Esthetician (Janine White) where I had an experience that could have discouraged me. A client wasn’t happy with her makeup. I cried and almost gave up, but my mentor encouraged me to keep going. Her words stuck with me: Don’t let one client stop you from using the gift God gave you. I went home that night with pen and paper I’m old school and regrouped!

For three years, I worked out of my townhome’s clubhouse, where I honed my craft and built a loyal clientele. Last year, my tax preparer and family friend, Latasha Solomon, asked if I’d considered getting a suite. I doubted the timing, but she pushed me to take a leap of faith, and now I’ve been in my own suite for eight months. I absolutely love it!

No Baby, this journey hasn’t been easy there have been late nights, early mornings, and plenty of challenges—but I’ve learned to trust the process and lean not into my own understanding but on my faith. I want people to know that even when it feels like there’s no light at the end of the tunnel, staying the course and trusting God will lead to something greater. Everything I do is for my girls, so they have something to be proud of and a foundation to build on.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Honestly, I’m such a homebody these days, but if my best friend came to visit, I’d make sure they had a great time!

For food, I’d recommend starting with some amazing chicken wings from King Food in Webster or Jaquay’s Chicken and Waffles in Dickinson—both are must-tries! For a nice dinner, Rouxpour and Maggiano’s are two of my favorite spots. For breakfast or brunch, I’d take them to Snooze or Red Oak Cafe.

As far as drinks, I don’t indulge as much anymore, but I used to love The Spot, and Gringo’s always has great margaritas. For a casual vibe, even Taco Cabana could be fun for a quick drink on the go!

For activities, I’d mix it up with some fun spots like Great Wolf Lodge, Top Golf, or Dave & Buster’s for a little bit of everything. It’d be a laid-back but memorable week, full of good food, laughs, and great company!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Actually, I have an incredible village of supporters, and I’m so grateful for them all!

First and foremost, a huge shoutout to my husband, Kenneth Jones Jr.—my rock, my man, my biggest cheerleader. Have you ever had someone believe in you so deeply that they see things in you that you sometimes don’t see in yourself? That’s him. Anything I’ve ever wanted to pursue, he’s supported me 100%. I love him with everything in me.

I also want to thank my parents for raising me to follow my dreams and teaching me that if there’s something I truly want in life, to go for it without hesitation. They’ve always had my back. Love you, Daddy and Mama!

To my amazing friends and sisters—Ami, Ash, Khadijah, and Tress—you are always there to support, encourage, and sometimes tell me the hard truths I need to hear. I love y’all for that and so much more!

And last but definitely not least, my cousin and BFF, Candice Lamb. Blood couldn’t make us closer. No matter how many miles separate us, our bond is unbreakable. You’ve been such an incredible friend and cousin, and I just wanted to take this moment to recognize you and share with the world how much you mean to me.

I love all of you, and I wouldn’t be where I am without your love, encouragement, and support!”
