We had the good fortune of connecting with Christina Gibson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Christina, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
I am a parent to four amazing children. Being able to make my own schedule and work from home has really allowed me to be there for my children when they need me. I don’t miss great opportunities they have at school, I get to volunteer and help as often as I can. It gives me the freedom to work around my children and family.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am a wedding and portrait photographer. I started my business about 10 or so years ago as a fun hobby and to take pictures for family and friends but weddings are my passion. I just love capturing the raw moments between couples in love and emotions witnessed during special days. I love being a part of my couple’s big day and being there for my brides from beginning to end. One of the things that makes me different from others is the “one on one” attention that I feel each and every client deserves. I only take a certain amount of clients a month so that I can have more time for each client. I have worked very hard to get where I am today and it definitely has not been an easy road. I sometimes have good days and sometimes bad days with a lot of second guessing. I have made many mistakes along the way, but because of those mistakes I have learned so much and have become a better person and photographer because of it.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend came to town I would have to take her on a drive out in the country. We live in Fulshear and it is just breathtaking out here. I personally love quiet drives with a beautiful view. My husband is also a General Manager at the Toasted Yolk here in Fulshear which would be one of our first stops to stop and eat at. It has a great breakfast and lunch menu to choose from so it would be perfect. If we weren’t wanting to venture too far away, we’d probably check out the many small shopping centers between Fulshear and the Katy area. There are truly so many places I wouldn’t even know where to begin.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have become close and worked closely with Sarah Mendoza of Seem Photography. She has supported me and has encouraged me through it all. I thank her from the bottom of my heart for getting me through my low times of photography. I also really want to give a shout out to Jason Talley. Him and his partner Mutley Escobar are truly amazing at helping others learn. They mentor and teach and are both outstanding for helping other photographers.
