We had the good fortune of connecting with Frankie Galvez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Frankie, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I was introduced to acting from a local actor who has been in a few movies and I learned very quickly that I had a knack for it. That it was easy to switch my brain on and off so to speak. To find life experiences that could help me get into characters. Once I figured out how to do that, the body language just seemed to follow suit. It’s a great way to escape any problems you have going on in your life. A release. I really enjoy making people feel or think with my art.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve spent the past few years crafting my skill in front of a camera. Now I’m trying to craft them behind the camera. I recently started a production company (Divine Narratives) with some friends of mine. Lauren Marie (Actress/Owner of Lauren Marie Photography) Frank Mahindaratne (Writer/Director) JJ Thompson (Actor/Owner of Grip Game Jujitsu). We wanted to create a safe haven for all things art. In this industry we’ve all had those not so great experiences. Whether it be a person(s) you’re working with creatively. Or a local studio. We’ve all delt with unprofessional. So it’s very important to us that we have a place that people know that they are getting quality, professionalism, and kindness. I can’t knock all those bad experiences though. I’ve met the people I call family through them. The 3 I went into business with I met on bad productions. I met Christan Van Slyke (Writer/Producer) Joseph Boehm (Actor) and my business partner JJ on the same film, and that led to meeting Lauren and creating other films. I met Frank on a local production and a bad experience with a studio. And we are now creating greatness. I believe that God puts you in these situations, and puts these people on your path for a reason. Had I not had those experiences, I wouldn’t have this film family. You just have to slow down and pay attention, God works mysteriously.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Being that I’m from a small town, there isn’t much to do. I’d hope that my friend would be like myself and enjoy little things like watching movies, hanging out by a fire and talking about life, or film. Or maybe they have kids as well and we make it a family thing. I like to surround myself with people that think the same. So less is more. Their company alone is enough.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There have been many people that have come in and out my life some good some bad, all of which have helped me improve my skill. Even if it was a bad experience, it gave me something that I could tap into creatively to use. But there’s only 1 individual I’d ever want to shout out, and that’s God. Without God, none of this would even be possible.
