We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmin Augustin and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jasmin, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Growing up, I actually wanted nothing to do with entrepreneurship! I wasn’t your typical “child entrepreneur” selling juice and candy to the other kids. I rejected it because my dad was an entrepreneur and it looked scary to me – up and down and everything in between. But as I got older (and wiser), I became intrigued. I’ve actually owned 3 businesses in the past 7 years ( 2 of them are still open) and I LOVE the creation process. I truly enjoy creating something in my mind and then putting in the work to make it come to life. My ultimate reason for starting my own business was knowing that with a business I could design the life I want – spending the time I want with my family and children is the most important part of owning a business for me.
What should our readers know about your business?
I started my business, Media Jasmin 3 years ago without any plans or visions… I just knew I loved social media and digital marketing so I took action and went for it. We currently offer 1-1 coaching and consulting and also do-it-for-you full-service social media management. We host live webinars and classes and even have what we call “digital products” for sale on our site too. Our prices range from $10 (the lowest priced digital product) all the way to in the thousands for full-service social media management. We’ve created these varied products and services to ensure we can help all businesses and budgets!
It’s been fun to watch the business change over time and evolve into what I love. As a Digital Strategist, I love the start up phase and creation process of the clients we have the privilege to work with… it’s sort of like we get to live out their dreams along with them! Our clients range from side hustler, blogger, solopreneurs, to small businesses with 10 or more employees. It’s not always easy… but I believe in going after we want and working to build that!
Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
If my best friend was visiting for a week I would take her to the following: – Austin for a quick 2 day trip to check out Barton Springs and some scenic views – Torchy’s Tacos or Lupe Tortillas (or maybe both) – Nimfa’s in the East End – The Marque hotel in Downtown to hang out for the day at the Texas-shaped pool – End our last day in the Heights to stroll through the antique shops and eat a cone at Fat Cat Creamery
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are so many! I wholeheartedly believe that we can’t get anywhere in life without the help, guidance, mentorship, and love of others. My husband, my daughter, all mentors along the way, and all of the books in my library.
