We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmine Nickerson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jasmine, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I have sensitive skin, very careful about what I place on my skin, the I had my son in 2018 and realized his skin was just as sensitive as mine and we had to be careful of what we used. I went to the doctor one time got the topical cream it didn’t work, that’s when me and my spouse I decided I could make something better and that was natural and actually worked. We started then on making our first butter. I simply wanted to offer a skincare line designed for those with sensitive skin
What should our readers know about your business?
I am currently in school to become a licensed esthetician, I want to offer facial services and more with my own products, I’ve been hand making my skincare line since 2018 and do what I can to keep it growing. I got where I am by putting myself out there, learning to network, speak to those I didnt know, let them get to know me and my brand. There definitely have been challenges along the way and numerous amounts of times I wanted to quit but I definitely appreciate the group of support I have behind me. Without them constantly being in my ear I would’ve quit a long time ago
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would start with some girl time at Infinity Beauty, they offer all kinds of self care spa services just as I do and that is where I’d start our time together. Then maybe head to Lee Nail Salon where we would get our nails and pedicures done, also some waxing and facial treatments. Lee Nail Salon is a beast with extendo nails so it’s a must we see her. Maybe do a little swing for a meal, Mexican or seafood cause we love them both, I’d spend the rest of the week going to eat, maybe go to the color factory and have some fun in midtown. My friends enjoy most wine and girl talk at home, we typically will get together drink and cook a meal. We are all mom home bodies
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The person who deserves some credit and recognition in my story is my spouse, he encouraged the idea of starting my own skincare line and turning it into so much more than what could be imagined. We are still growing learning and expanding and he is behind me 100% of the time
