We had the good fortune of connecting with John Tankersley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi John, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I wanted to offer professional-fun-safe experience after poor treatment at other facilities.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I feel my drive for the best customer service for my guest is what sets me apart from others in my industry. The level of support-welcoming-atmosphere in my locations makes us superior to others. I turned a hobby into a business after several years of poor locations to play my hobby. I felt I could do better and offer more if I built what I wanted. It was not easy but after many years of mistakes it came together into what we have today. 30 years of practice and many staff members we have a great team. The brand we offer is well known throughout our industry and new players find us and realize we are the best at what we do. When you walk into one of our locations or have a mobile event we treat you like family.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would start the day with great food from Clancy’s Public House in Richmond TX. Then I would take a drive through Houston and show off the great spots of interest and art. Then a trip to Johnson Space Center to show that Houston is a great city for diversity and knowledge. Houston’s part in the space program is well known but not many have seen the depth we are involved. Then we would visit our museum district but before a late lunch is in store with a visit to Cleburnes Cafeteria for an awesome belly filled lunch. Then off to our museum district for art as well as eyeopening exhibits at the museum of natural science. The next few days would be visits to Galveston for great sites and meals. More adventures of local cuisine in China Town. Houston has such a wonderful melting pot of people-food-fun.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to thank my wife Kellie Tankersley for all her support and encouragement through all my crazy ideas and dreams. I also want to thank James Cobb for always being there and supporting ideas and calls at all hours.
James Cobb designed all my logos and continues to make me look great. Greg Lilly Underground Graphics.
