We had the good fortune of connecting with Jonathan Chumley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jonathan, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
The most important value in any business is the customers, and behind that is quality. I strive to always give the highest quality no matter size of the job. I am constantly upgrading gear, learning new ideas, studying techniques and thinking of no ideas to grow. Then of course the customer which make a business successful are the key ingredient. That’s why it’s important to me to try and stand out from others.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Photography has always been a passion of mine since I was in high school. I never though I would have my own business and do this as a 2nd job. I’m really excited to just see the growth and the improvements in my work. It has not all been easy. There have been moments and times I thought to sell all my stuff and give up. Mainly because I was not happy with my work. The clients love it but I am always hard on myself. It’s just because I strive to be great and quality is my main motivation.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love Houston! I would definitely recommend them to visit Galleria Mall for shopping and one of my favorite places to eat and watch a concert or show would be Houston House of Blues. They have great food! Then for scenery I love a walk through Herman Park. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would definitely say that Peter McKinnon has always been my mentor and who I follow the most. He is a Youtuber and makes a lot of tutorials on photography and videography. Also my Dad Jamie has always pushed me to be better and not give up on my goals. He has always stood behind me and love to see me do the things I love. I feel as photography brings out the happiness for me.
