We had the good fortune of connecting with Juanita WOOTEN and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Juanita, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I take my craft very seriously! I treat my business as a business and not a gig or something to just do for money. I am overly concerned with the experience that each and every one of my clients has while in my presence. Customer service is not dead with me. I look at everything from a consumers point of view before I look at it from a business owner’s point of view.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As a licensed cosmetologist for over 25 years, it’s easy to get burnt out with the industry and all of the changes. However, what helps me to stay a float is that I’m always willing to learn new things to keep me elevated amongst my peers. In this industry, you must pay attention to new trends and make sure that you’re still practicing the basics that got you where you are. I make sure to take classes to stay abreast as well as confide in my fellow cosmetologists comrades to see what they’re doing in this industry as well.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
This is a hard one. I will definitely visit the waterway as there are so many cute restaurants and nice scenery. I would definitely go to Morton’s for happy hour. I would definitely visit the capital Grille that just opened up in the Woodlands as it’s a very new establishment out here for us. Depending on the time of year if it’s crawfish season, then we are definitely going to Texas crawfish Company to enjoy some mud bugs. There is a zip line place in Tomball that I haven’t visited yet but it’s definitely on my list. As far as movies definitely AMC in Shenandoah.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My shout out definitely goes to my mentor Sherita Cherry of Atlanta, Georgia! She is the epitome of hard work dedication and bringing Visions into forefront. She has been in the industry for over 25 years and she is currently the owner of a very successful cosmetology school where she’s teaching up incoming cosmetologist the correct way to enter the business on the technical and business side of the industry.
