We had the good fortune of connecting with Kesha Sonny and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kesha, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” – Matthew 7:7 (NIV)
I’ll be honest and say there were many times that I wanted to give up. Between running my business full time, being a mom of 3 littles, and attending grad school, saying that I was overwhelmed was an understatement. But I had to learn to, “let go and let God”. Once I don’t lose faith, I know I’ll receive everything that’s for me and more.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Sometimes, when things in life seems too easy, I always wonder if a hidden camera crew is going to pop up and say, “sike!”. To get to where I am today, it took a lot of perseverance and determination. I’ve learned that working hard makes the reward even greater and to enjoy the journey. Looking back to when I started, I had no idea that I’d be where I am today.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’d definitely want to take my best friend to the zoo and museums! Food wise, I’d love to try all the soul food, Caribbean food, and locally small-owned spots as well. I’ve heard the parks downtown are beautiful as well so I’d love for us to enjoy the views! Also with me being the date devil, I’d definitely have to find us some heart-racing activities like go-karts, ATVs, zip lining, or anything along those lines!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Definitely have to give the glory to God. But I’d also love to recognize my mom, husband, kids, and my best friends. Having a strong support system has kept me stable not only physically, but mentally as well.
