We had the good fortune of connecting with Ladyfang and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ladyfang, do you disagree with some advice that is more or less universally accepted?
Anything about hard work or boot straps. You gotta work hard, but there is no guarantee it will lead to success. So much of success is luck and happenstance. We are grateful for the work.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
We love performing live. We are recording now due to covid- which is a whole other adventure- but we can’t wait to get back to the stage. We create the songs together and we all have very different vibes, so the result is kind of a surprise. We aren’t afraid to dip our toes into different styles. Contrary to popular belief, It’s not all sweat and glitter…Just mostly.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If you’re in Austin, you gotta check out The Little Darlin (South Austin). It’s a great bar with a beautiful outdoor seating area and tons of space for just hanging out, or seeing an awesome band. Not to mention the incredible menu for any eater, excluding cannibals. Hotel Vegas (East Austin) also has some great outdoor drag shows and a particularly wild scene. Lets say we’re going out on a Friday. We start with mimosas at Cosmic Coffee (South Congress) and some of the black stuff of course. Head to the green belt from there for hiking and swimming. After that it’s over to El Taquito (E. Riverside) for frozens and some tacos. I’m sure some of us may need a nap after that so we can take a break at the studio and jump on our trampoline. From there we get cleaned up, made up, covered in glitter and it’s off to Cheer Up Charlie’s (Red River Cultural District) for a night of dancing. If you’ve got the energy, round the night out by heading to Elysium 80s night for more dancing- you won’t be sorry.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are so many people we would love to shout out! This list is endless. We are so grateful to all our friends, families and fans who follow us, come to shows or listen to songs. Whenever we doubt ourselves or feel unsure, these people inspire us, encourage us and ensure we don’t give credence to those negative thoughts.
