Meet Laura Jorden-Krolczyk | Founder/Graphic Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Laura Jorden-Krolczyk and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Laura, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
That’s a great question — and one that every entrepreneur answers a little differently. First, make sure the business you want to start is something that your good at and something that you care about. Second, make sure there is a market for the business and in 10 years you can still see people using your product or requiring your business services.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Custom embroidery is a blend of craftsmanship and technology that transforms fabric into personalized art using thread. It’s used for fashion, branding, gifts, and decor, offering endless creative possibilities. Monogram Markets is one of the only companies that works with leather and vintage repurposed items. We bring life back to vintage clothing and linens through the process of custom embroidery. Monogram Markets was founded in 2012 and we’ve grown with the changes in time. We have expanded our business with Amazon, two Etsy shops, TikTok shop, our website, and we now offer digital AI marketing for other businesses.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Some of our favorite spots in the city are located within The Heights area. We love antique shopping, vintage clothing shops, and the array of fun places to eat and enjoy the day.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
A successful former employer once told me, “Follow your dreams or you’ll be working for someone that did.” This is a powerful quote that hits deep because it’s so true. It captures the essence of entrepreneurship in one punchy line: either you build your dream, or you help build someone else’s. It’s not meant to shame people who choose employment, but it’s a wake-up call for those who want to start something but are hesitating. The best part is that I didn’t hold on to this wisdom, I shared it with others who have since started their own business.
