We had the good fortune of connecting with Maram Shakshuki and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Maram, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
One of the primary roles of a realtor is to help people find suitable homes. This can have a significant impact on people’s lives as finding the right home can be a life-changing event. A realtor can help a family find a home in a good neighborhood, close to their work or school, and within their budget, which can improve their quality of life. And there’s a lot more stress and emotions when it comes to moving homes, I was born as an expat which means I travelled and moved around a lot, that’s why I know how deeply moving could impact your lif.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As an expat who was born and raised moving around frequently, I understand better than most how challenging it can be to start over and adapt to new environments. However, I have always been adaptable and resilient, which has allowed me to thrive in these situations.

Now, I have the opportunity to use my experiences to help others who are going through similar challenges. Having been through the process of settling into a new country, I am able to provide valuable advice and guidance to those who are in the same position. I can assist them in navigating the complexities of a new culture, finding housing, and building relationships within their new community.
By helping others in this way, I am not only providing practical assistance but also building meaningful relationships with people from all over the world. My experiences as an expat have given me a unique perspective and the ability to connect with people from diverse backgrounds. Through my work, I am able to make a positive impact on the lives of others and help them feel more at home in their new country.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would definitely take them to all the museums in Houston and space center, and evening time we will go to try different foods, houston is diverse and I love that in here, visiting Historic Heights neighborhood for dinner and drinks. As it’s known for its charming Victorian homes, local boutiques, and trendy restaurants and bars.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would say my mom and my husband. They both encourage me with my ideas no matter how strange my idea might sound at that time, they understood me and helped me pursue what I wanted to do in my life.
