We had the good fortune of connecting with Nagi and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nagi, what role has risk played in your life or career?
For me, risk taking is where you find your hidden strengths. It reveals your persevering nature. It introduces you to your true self and your capabilities of making something from the raw tools of your inner being. Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a writer and will always be a writer. I write for myself first and others later. My creativity comes from a place embedded deep inside my being, it is without words. It’s a feeling that I experience which helps me to create. I got to where I am today by working hard, staying consistent and remaining true to who I am. It was not easy because there were some days that I just didn’t feel like being socially engaged on social media. I am really not a social media person but I know that I this is the way of the world and the way to stay connected for my business. It’s still not easy because I know that I have so much more to accomplish and give to the world. The hardest challenge for me is getting connected with other business minded people that can assist me and provide knowledge in all aspects of business, that is something that I still have not accomplished but I know that Spirit will connect me to the right people when it is time. The most valuable lesson that I have learned thus far is to don’t force anything. Know when to move and know when to be still. Just because it seems that everyone else around you is moving at a much faster pace than you, remember that the turtle still won the race, steady pace. I want the world to know that I am my brand and my story. I am the physical representation of what I speak in my poetry, my rhymes and anything that I post. Anything that I post or say, you should know that I have experienced it. Wisdom comes by way of experience, and I am still walking and learning.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m a catering person when it comes to my friends. I enjoy cooking. So I would probably cook most of the days during their visit, and we would eat out maybe once or twice, restaurant of their choice because I’m a simple, chill person when it comes to choosing or discovering new places to eat. I’d prefer being out in nature, mostly, the park or a fun drive to the nearest beach. I love karaoke, music is therapy. I love to dance, it’s very releasing and free. I enjoy pedicures, window shopping at Home Goods and Target.Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would have to give respect and honor to two of my closest friends, the only two that I have, Alicia and Kennosa. They have been with me through the good and not so good, my children who helped me to develop into the mother that I am today, my loving significant other who loves me unconditionally and is always my encourager as well as teacher. My little brother and one of my favorite cousins, she knows who she is.
