Meet Merissa Cole | Wedding Planner & Business owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Merissa Cole and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Merissa, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor for success for me has been always going back to my WHY. Why am I doing this? Why was I driven to create this business? Why was I called to this creative path? Why is my business unique? This helps refocus my passion and recenter my thoughts and actions. My why is to be a light in my community and server and love people with excellence. When this is at the baseline of everything I do, I am less anxious and fall back in love with being a business owner.

What should our readers know about your business?
I am the owner and lead wedding planner of Riss Creations and what sets us apart is our faith based integrity and vision behind our business. Not only do I love to plan beautiful events but I want to remind people about the power and amazing design of marriage. We are striving to bring back purpose and meaning to the wedding industry by thoughtfully connecting with our couples so we can truly serve them. I want people to know that planning a wedding and spending your money to only think about a it as a social event can be so damaging. Your wedding is the kick off to the most important human relationship you can have and you are there to bond together forever surrounded by those who will invest in your marriage. It is a celebration of true commitment and excitement for the future. That is why we are passionate about what we do. We want to prove the support couples need to focus on that bigger picture.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We are still a little new to the city but wow what a fun place to live! I would take them to some of the most beautiful rooftop Z on 23 to see the city skyline. One of our favorite places on the weekends to go is the Bayou parks and Montrose vintage shopping. Oh, and you can’t forget about the Taco Fuego truck, and absolute must taste.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
This might sound like the cheesy answer but it is truly God! I wouldn’t have the passion that I do if He did not bless me with the most amazing marriage and moral guide. His example and lessons are what I love to share with others. The opportunities and the growth I have had can only be supported by His faithfulness and love for me.
