We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicole Warren and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nicole, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
In my past experience in corporate America, I tried to separate my work and personal life. This was easier to do since I had set working hours from my company and client interactions were limited to business hours. Now as a business owner, I’ve found that my personal and work life are bumped up right next to each other, if not bleeding into one another on occasion. For this reason, I’ve tried to focus on more of a work-life integration – by this I mean finding the balance of needing to do both personal and professional tasks throughout the day. I definitely have not mastered it yet, but I try to take each experience and learn how I can become more efficient in different areas of the business.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I provide marketing services to small business owners: commercial and brand photography, website creation and social media marketing. My desire and focus is to work with small business owners who want a high quality experience, without paying the high prices that are often charged for these services. I am proud to have a passion for small business owners and to be mindful of my clients’ experiences, needs and financial discipline. My clients will tell you that I strive to exceed expectations, accept feedback willingly and offer exceptional customer service and this is something I’m very proud of.
My business is still very young, but my focus on client experience is driven by my background in B2B sales. In my experience, genuinely striving to get to know people and caring about their situation will help you deliver the best experience to them. I am currently working on getting my name out into the community through social media and community presence. This process takes a lot of time and dedication, but it’s starting to pay off.
As my business grows, I hope to forge relationships with clients that are genuine and that I can bring joy to others through my work.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There are so many fun parts about Houston, it would be hard to pick what to do first! One of my favorite areas within the loop, is The Heights. I used to live in the area, so I may be biased, but I love how much character exists there. I’d love to spend a (cooler) morning walking around Heights Boulevard; Local Foods is a must stop for lunch!
I like to show people a bit of variety, so a visit to Surfside Beach is a top recommendation. I’d never experienced a drive-on beach until moving to Houston and I think it makes for such an easy beach day compared to other experiences. Packing a picnic and spending the day in the water with a short drive home is such a benefit to the Houston area.
For an unbeatable dining experience, I’d recommend visiting Juliet’s on Westheimer Road. This speakeasy steakhouse has such a fun vibe and a delicious dinner and drinks menu. The service is always impeccable and the Filet Mignon is one of the best I’ve had. On the opposite side of town, I’d swing by Awesome Bites off of Sawyer St. for allergy friendly dessert options, a necessity for my family.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My shoutout is dedicated to my photography mentor and chosen sister, Jess Johnson. Jess and I crossed paths in the most unlikely of ways 8 years ago and without her love, support and mentorship, there are so many things my life would be without. Jess has helped build both my skills and confidence, as well as teaching me programs, strategies and technique. I am forever grateful to her for her patience and kindness and always supporting me with honest feedback, encouragement and love.
