We had the good fortune of connecting with Ramiro and Elidet Alvarado and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ramiro and Elidet, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I was working in corporate America and was fired 7 days before the birth of our first child. On that day, November 29, 2012, I vowed never to never work for anyone else ever again. 19 Months later we opened our Gym Abba Fitness.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My wife was nine months pregnant and seven days before the baby was born I was fired from my day job. We were sick and tired of being told what we couldn’t do, where we couldn’t go, how couldn’t be done. We were living a life that was it being fulfilled with our true gifts and passion. A swift kick in the butt is all we need it to get us moving in the right direction. 19 months later we open Abba Fitness. That was over eight years ago and we’ve never looked back. What fueled our fire was the anticipation of what was to come. During those 19 months all we could talk about was when our gym open and we’re helping people. Our passion to impact lives and adding value to others Is what found our flame. That passion could not be extinguished and nobody’s know was gonna be bigger than our YES. Our decision to start our business started with hope and a dream that we could provide a better life for ourselves, our family and our community. Our background is not in business so we had a lot of learning to do.
The lessons that we learn most of them through trial and error is a painfully slow process. But the pursuit of constantly trying to improve through reading, seminars, getting mentors, and audiobooks have heavily impacted the way we run our business. It goes without saying that we are like sponges and open to learning lessons particularly the ones that are hard hopefully from someone else’s experience rather than our own. Our mission is to impact people so that they take action on their life. We have mastered the laws of fitness and we want to teach people how effortless it is to be healthy. There are so many people struggling in this world today because of poor health. All we wanna do is teach you how to have a fighting chance so that when life throws you curve balls you have an opportunity to knock that baby at the park.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well we are fitness enthusiast and so anyone that comes to our city has two options. First we will certainly be making a visit to Memorial Park it has been a staple in our lifestyle for over 30 years. Apart from that we love Caracol. They have an exquisite menu but most importantly Ytzel will bus with flavor in it explode your mouth like a symphony orchestrate it in between your teeth.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Our drive to succeed begins with a quest for personal development. Along with the constant pursuit of reading, listening to audio books, and going to seminars energizes our passion to pursue our dreams. Books such as How to Win Friends and Influence People, The Secret, Think and Grow Rich, and the Greatest Salesman in the world are just a few titles that have help us with our journeys along the way.
