Meet Raymond Auzenne | Artist and Manager

We had the good fortune of connecting with Raymond Auzenne and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Raymond, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
It has alway been a goal of mine to be successful in the music industry. I initially I believed I was going to be making money by recording and releasing my own music. I learned the ins and outs of the studio and recording process out of necessity. I didn’t know it would take me further and expand my skills that surrounded creating music. These attributes later landed me in places and provided opportunities that would allow me to make a living working in the field of production. I decided to start an LLC to hold myself accountable. It gave me a perspective and drive to become successful in a space that I am well versed in and love.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have been a rapper since the age of nine. If I were to sum up what it is that truly got me where I am today, it would be Hip Hop. Rapping has always been at the base of every real opportunity I’ve had. It has never been easy but I have always had an emcee attitude and believed I was the best. I was rapping when none of my peers were and I always felt like I had an edge over others who were trying to do what I was doing. This later landed me in studios and rooms with artist in my city that I grew up listening to. This quickly humbled me and taught me to be grateful for my abilities and the opportunities in front of me. I eventually meant Mannie Fresh and started producing records with him. I felt like a younger version of him. I started to listen more and soak up a lot of game from him. This eventually led to me traveling with him as a road manager. When people ask me how I got to where I am today, I tell them that it took a lot of patience and showing up when other people didn’t. Staying consistent is key.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
For starters I’d take them to Candente, my favorite Tex Mex spot. The food is what I consider to be genuine Tex Mex being that all the food is cooked in the restaurant over a wood fire. The margaritas are a great starting point for great drinks. It would be mandatory that we stop by Savoy in 3rd ward. It’s currently my favorite spot to have a drink and listen to the city’s top DJs. If we have enough energy after that I’d take them to Two Headed Dog, a low key bar with bartenders who really care about the customers and what they serve them. Of course at some point we will end up at the studio with the fam.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There’s no way I can narrow it down to one person. I would have to start with my mom for believing in my abilities. She has always been my biggest fan. My father worked long hours to provide a space for our family live and chase whatever dreams we had. I remember my parents allowing me to bring other artists and musicians home and record them in my bedroom studio. I learned so much about people and what I believed to be music business at that time. My brothers later became fans of what I was doing and drove me to be great. My girlfriend stayed by me when I didn’t believe she believed in me. She proved me wrong by trusting my aspirations and did everything to support. This later landed me in the studio with legendary producer Mannie Fresh. Fresh and I quickly developed a relationship that felt like family. Mannie has provided more opportunity than I can even list. There are several others who assisted on the way and I thank God for them as well.
