We had the good fortune of connecting with Rocío Flores and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rocío, what’s the most difficult decision you’ve ever had to make?
The most difficult decision I have ever had to me is start my business in the middle of pandemic It was the hardest decision I had to make, but I think it was also one of the best decisions I could have ever made. I believe that life is full of risks and if we do not take a risk to learn a way to fight in life to learn how to survive, then we will never know of what we are capable of doing.
Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I believe that no person who has their own business has had the easy road, but what makes me feel proud of my business is that I never give up despite any obstacle. And also not to see obstacles as an impediment but as life lessons that will help you improve depending on the situation. I have managed many of these with the help of my partner, the support of a good team is the key to all success. I want people to know me for the positive way I get through every moment despite adversity. And for every effort I make to achieve what I set out to do, that they see me as an icon of inspiration and people can take charge of their lives and undertake.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I moved about 6 years ago to Austin tx, and I’m not a very social person despite my profession, so I know very few places here. I think it would be nice if someone gave me that ride.
I have visited Places to walk and distract yourself, in down town there’s the Lady bird lake, it is one of my favorite places, where you can rent skateboards and go through part of the center of the city, where you can find small snow stalls and things like that. I’ll definitely take a friend to do visit this lake.
Another place where can I take some one is another of my favorite’s places, the river that is in Georgetown called the blue hole park, a great place to cool off a bit in summer time, apart from being close to my house.
And for to eat among so many places, I think it is the Jaliscos restaurant that is located in Buda tx, a very familiar place with excellent service.
And other option that I love because of the view is the Oasis on lake travis restaurant , I think most people go there because of that.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Throughout my little career, I have had different people and reasons at the time that motivated me or forced me to take risks and venture into this great art. It all started when I lived a personal problem on 2018, from that moment my son was the biggest reason to fight and strive to be someone in life. In that year I went to so many classes and educated my self with several international makeup and hairstyle artists to improve my services to give a best service to my clients. And then after so long, been only with my son, I met my husband who has been my greatest support, without the unconditional support of him I honestly could not have opened my own makeup studio and so many things that as a couple we have achieved. I think that to succeed in this life there is nothing like having a team that has the same aspirations that you do, and what better than having it as a couple. We’re still working together to achieve more goals, with my small family.
