We had the good fortune of connecting with Sam Stilley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sam, what do you attribute your success to?
We have ingrained into our business and company culture from the very beginning to strive towards providing all homeowners in the greater Houston area with quality roofs and a wonderful experience they can look back on with a smile. We specialize in empowering homeowners to make value-based decisions for their roofing projects. We ensure that all clients are educated and provided with an exceptional in-home experience – and are equipped with the proper tools and resources to make an educated and confident decision for their roof replacement. We attribute this to our core value structure and company culture. We are constantly striving towards growth, not just as a company, but as individuals. Our goal is to always provide exemplary service, never compromise integrity, and always provide top-quality products that exceed all expectations. When we say “family-owned and operated” we absolutely mean every bit of that. Everyone here at Amstill works hard to provide the best of themselves for all of our customers and fellow team members.. Never have I felt so lucky to have the incredible staff that I have today at Amstill. We believe in upward momentum for our growth as a company and for all individuals involved. Whether it comes to deciphering what we can do to improve our business processes, any changes that we can make, things that we can do more of, or technologies that we can invest in; we’re constantly striving towards new and innovative ideas that we can manifest and bring to the table as a team. We stay up to date with new technologies and innovations and utilize these tools to make the processes more efficient, simple, effective, and beneficial for the customer from the moment that they contact us to the last handshake shared at the successfully completed job. We are relentless when it comes to maintaining top-notch service in the roofing industry and we make it a priority in our daily ongoing discussions and team meetings to make sure that we are doing everything that we can to give our best. In turn, the system that we have established serves us strategically in combat and gives us a competitive advantage in the roofing industry. As we continue to grow larger in size over the years, we have cultivated a system of procedures that allow us to implement different projects pertaining to the demand of the leads. We have expanded our services and expertise throughout the years and although we are primarily a residential roofing company, we have systematically been able to integrate commercial projects as well. All materials used on residential homes, and any other projects, are bought and paid for by Amstill assuring our homeowners that no liens will be placed on the property by a supplier. We guarantee customer satisfaction and uphold all agreements in accordance with the contract outlined per project. Even more importantly, we are fervent to meet the expectations of our clients, if not supersede those expectations to the best of our ability. If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I had a good friend coming into town, I’d definitely want to show them as much of what Houston has to offer! Food is huge in Houston, so I’d make sure plenty of it was on the menu. We’d definitely hit up some awesome Mexican or Tex-Mex spots. Ninfa’s on Navigation is a Houston Tex-Mex icon so that would be 100% on my list and for something completely under the radar, Las Locas Fajitas in Spring Branch has hands down the best flour tortillas in Houston. It also wouldn’t be a trip to Texas without experiencing some Steak and BBQ! Pinkerton’s has some of the best brisket I’ve ever had in my life, and while the list of fantastic Houston steakhouses is long, I’d shoot for the top of my list and enjoy a delicious steak and great experience at Georgia James. In addition to great food, I’d have to enjoy some great sports! It doesn’t really matter what sport, but going to an Astros, Texans, or Rockets Game is always a blast, but if we feel like something a bit more relaxing, we could always go hit a round of golf. While not directly in Houston, going to places like NASA or the Space Center tend to be an out of this world experience! Catching some sun and catching some fish down at Galveston Island is a great time as well. All in all, there’s no shortage of adventure in Houston and this is just a small taste and no possible way to fit everything in to one week, but I guarantee great times and an unforgettable experience!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Apart from giving me life, I would like to extend my greatest gratitude to none other than Frank Stilley, original owner, and pioneer of Amstill Roofing, but most importantly, my father. As a former Captain and deputy of the law for the majority of his adult life, he started Amstill Roofing back in 1974 as a dedicated roofer to provide the people with exceptional, reliable, and top-quality service that has never been compromised. Even in the toughest of times, such as the recent coronavirus pandemic and even during life-altering disasters throughout the previous years, Frank always kept company doors open to service those in need and always looked after his employee’s best interests. My father has instilled in me at a young age to always be hard-working and dedicated, never compromising the integrity of our company and our word being our bond. If not for my father, I wouldn’t have had the chance to be the person I am today and will forever be thankful to him and the wonderful person he genuinely is. In closing, I would also like to give a shoutout to the Wolff Center for Entrepreneurship for equipping me with the knowledge and tools in advanced ways of thinking and enhancing the leadership skillsets that I put into practice every single day.
