We had the good fortune of connecting with Sara Demicelli and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sara, how do you define success?
Oddly enough I would describe success with one word: failure. Many people are so scared to fail that they’re not willing to take a chance at the possibility of succeeding. And success takes a LOT of failure. However, Christ has blessed me with an amazing support system. It’s easy to look at failure as a negative but if you truly analyze a failure you can see the light of success. To me, success is getting back up and chasing your dreams to the fullest possible potential.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I left my parents house after I graduated high school to follow my dreams. I honestly didn’t think that I’d stay in the Houston area. I always thought I’d go back to my small town to do hair and makeup. However, that wasn’t in God’s plan for me. I was given an opportunity to interview at a high-end salon, which it is important to note, I’d never stepped foot into an actual hair salon until that point. I met with the owner and manager at Alan Murphy Salon and they saw something in me. If it wasn’t for the Alan Murphy team guiding me to the point I am now in my career, I don’t know where I’d be. This career isn’t easy by any means. It takes true dedication, passion, and endurance. At Alan Murphy Salon, there’s an advanced training program and not everyone can make it through. However, the ones that do always come out to be AMAZING colorists and stylists! I’m blessed to say I’m a colorist, makeup artist, and a soon to be stylist at the salon. I’m excited to see where this career takes me! I dream that one day I’ll be at New York and London Fashion Week, doing hair and makeup for some of the best designers!
