Meet Shani Williams: Professional Makeup Artist & Engineer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Shani Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve always had a niche for helping others but didn’t know it would be in beauty. My passion for beauty started in college selling cosmetics for extra money. I fell in love with learning how to take care of my skin as well as applying makeup. If I can make myself feel this way, just imagine how I can make other women feel. As you may notice, the cosmetics world is booming with many new vendors and products. Sometimes it can feel overwhelming, especially when looking for foundation. Well, I have a solution to that. I am proud to announce this fall, I will be launching my new True Beauty & Co. Custom Blend Foundations. It is a mineral based formula infused with botanicals, provides long lasting coverage with a light feel, talc, oil and fragrance free and ideal for all skin types. I believe my products will take the frustration out from looking for your exact foundation shade. Before starting my foundation line, I listen to what my clients tell me on what they would like to see more of in picking out the correct shade for them. By listening to their complaints and concerns, personally, I feel the best way of learning in any field is trial and error and constantly continuing on how to improve your skills. You should acknowledge your struggles and believe in order to get better at what you do, you must learn to take criticism and turn that into a positive. I believe in giving my clients the best service that exceeds their expectations. When you treat people with dignity and respect, they will always come to you.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite spot for food and drinks will definitely be Gringo’s. They have the best margaritas and enchiladas in Houston. I truly enjoy the outdoors, so going walking at Herman Park is relaxing, going to the beach and taking workout classes. I like to keep it simple and fun.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Being in business with yourself can be challenging, but thanks to my peer and other business owners, it can definitely make my job a little bit easier. My clientele is mostly brides so I always need a helping hand. I work with a variety of other services such as additional makeup artists, hair stylists, estheticians, wedding planners, and personal trainers. I believe in order to become successful, it is always good to collaborate with other vendors to gain trust and also to build your clientele. I want to recognize the following vendors for outstanding work and services to my clients: Dria – Makeup Artist & Esthetician (The Lavish Vanity) Camille Johnson – Makeup Artist (Incognito Beauty) Devyn Lyles – Hair Stylist (lyles.styles) Umar Al-Duha – Hair Stylist (BeautybyUmar) Bri Ellis – Hair Stylist (Styles by Bri Ellis) Bruce Barnes – Hair Stylist (BeautybyBruce) Janine White – Esthetician (ASuiteBreak) Matt Trevino – Photographer (MattRTrevinophotography) Carlos Fowler – Personal Trainer (Pro Physique Fitness) Charity Selvey – Wedding Planner (demialexandraevents)
