We had the good fortune of connecting with Tamaryn Goree and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tamaryn, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
I feel like a lot of the habits I’ve learned along the way have helped me succeed. However, the most important habit i have learned is that consistency is the key to success. As an entrepreneur, being consistent has shown me that the saying “practice makes perfect” is true. As an result my clientele and exposure has grown.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
Not only am I a self taught Hairstylist, I also have been certified as a Lash Technician and love to teach others that share the same passion. Getting to where I am now definitely was not easy. I had my moments of self doubt and having no motivation, but when I truly realized this was my passion I stepped forward and never looked back. Keeping the right people around me who are positive and very supportive made the journey worth it. Lessons that I have learned along the way are: you can’t focus on what everyone else around you is doing; even if your doing the same thing, their speed is not mine and vise versa. Focusing on your own craft will allow so much room for growth and improvement, which is most important! Nothing makes me feel better than when my clients step in front of the mirror, with a huge smile from ear to ear saying that they feel beautiful, they love their hair and or lashes! Customer satisfaction is always my number one goal. With me “beauty is just a touch away”, making people feel confident and beautiful is probably the best part of my job.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am definitely a foodie, so I would most likely take her to my favorite seafood spot, Crafty Crab, I am obsessed their boiled shrimp. Another good spot I would take her to would be, downtown Houston area. Not only do they have so many more food spots to choose from, they have fun activities like scooters, hidden gems like Post HTX, and the beautiful Discovery Green Park.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my mother, Tanisha Franklin and my significant other, Kamryn Williams. These two people were so important in turning my dreams into a reality. Through constant support, motivational talks, and being hands on behind the scenes, they have encouraged me to be the best in everything that I do.
