Meet Trey Dewitt | Real Estate Agent

We had the good fortune of connecting with Trey Dewitt and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Trey, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
From an early age, I knew I wanted to do something big in life. Move to LA, become a successful actor, connect with as many people in my life, or start a business. I landed on building my business in my last semesters of college when things were not aligning with the traditional “9 to 5”. I later got a job in broadcast news working at FOX news in Downtown Austin. Things were not aligning with my goals there and it was time to find what my passion was . My family brought up the idea to get enrolled in real estate school. It would be a way to build up a network and create a generation of wealth for myself. I was happy to finally pass my national and state tests and start helping clients find their dream homes. So far in the last three months, I’ve been the happiest. I am working towards becoming full-time in my business and allow faith to guide me throughout the way.

What should our readers know about your business?
I’m still in the process of learning a lot about the industry. Fortunately, many of my family members are involved in the real estate business. It’s not easy being the youngest one trying to climb the ladder, but I often joke that someday I’ll outshine them. Slowly, I’m creating wealth and driving change within my family.
Leaving my ‘9-to-5’ job was hard because it felt so structured. Clocking in and out, having a boss assign daily tasks, and needing permission just to enjoy a brief escape from the desk—it was easy to get stuck in that routine. But I started to feel like my potential to become wealthy and successful was slipping away. My soul was calling for a change and I did just THAT!
Real estate isn’t easy, but it’s not impossible either. The industry is cutthroat, and it’s no secret that many agents quit within their first two years. I’m learning to be patient with myself during this time of slowness and uncertainty. So far, I can say I’ve helped already two people find a home and I’m looking forward to helping more familes in the future.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
OMG! I love this question. I have a friend from France visiting soon, and I’m so excited to show him around my small hometown. First on the agenda: indulging in some authentic Texas Bar-B-Que. Houston is home to a vibrant LGBTQ+ district called Montrose, and one of my favorite things to do there is bar-hop around the city. After that, I’d plan a trip to Galveston for a beach day.
Now, I’ll admit I’m not the biggest fan of Texas beaches—they’re often dirty and can smell pretty bad—but Galveston is still a great spot to escape reality for a bit and relax by the shore. Having someone to share all the local gems and hidden treasures with really makes exploring so much more special!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to send my recognition to my lovely parents for supporting me throughout this whole process. Without their support, I don’t think I would be where I am today. I was able to move back home to save up money and help fund my business. I’m counting down the days until I can help my parents find their dream home. It makes me happy to see them smile.
