We had the good fortune of connecting with Xavier Dupree and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Xavier, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I always wanted to be my own boss and one of the first things that came to my mind was a clothing line I grew up around nice dressed people and love clothes so why not have a clothing line where I can design my own clothes & also being 6’9 I can structure the clothes how I want basically. And we need clothes in our everyday life, you can’t go a day without clothes & shoes.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me apart from other is that I don’t need outside critics to know who I am & what I’m capable of doing. Professionally I got to where I am today is because of Hardwork & just believing in myself, believing in my work no it wasn’t easy but nothing that’s worth the wait is easy it’s a lot of ups and downs not only in being a professional athlete but anything you do. My time being overseas in different countries it taught me a lot of lessons & just living in different cultures & seeing they lifestyle opened my eyes that here in America we are blessed. We take for granted the life we live & we take for granted our loved ones. About my brand: Everyone have their own meaning of what Loyalty | Love means but if I could describe in one word what it means to me it would be “UNITY”. Without trust theirs not loyalty if we going into war how do I know you not going to switch sides if there’s no trust & love is self explanatory. But my goals is for my brand is to just spread positivity & express yourself through clothing, to be worldwide & eventually expand with different business opportunities. I want an agency as well.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Houston have a lot of spots to pick and choose from that’s kind of hard to be specific but depending on the person that’s how our vibe will be lol. Probably a few chill spots nothing too crazy.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First off without God I wouldn’t be in the position I’m in nor have the talent next my Grandmother almost everything I know I learned from her. My mother brothers & sisters, a big shoutout to the mother of my children. My coaches throughout high school & college also want to thank Elevate Oregon family & everyone else who supported me & who still supporting me throughout this marathon & last but not least my LxL Family.
