We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Andrea Smith, D.C. and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dr. Andrea, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
“If hard work is the key to success, most people would rather pick the lock.” ~ Claude McDonald. Anything that you want out of life requires work, time and dedication. There are no shortcuts.
What should our readers know about your business?
I am the proud owner of The Art of Healing Chiropractic Clinic in North Houston. I’ve worked as an associate doctor for ten years in various areas of care. At the peak of the pandemic, I decided that it was time to put the do’s and don’ts that I learned to the test and open my own practice. It was an easy decision. However, my biggest challenge was identifying the stagnation of my business. I realized that I was a one-woman show and couldn’t run a business alone. I started building a team of interns that assist with day to day operations.
We focus on the whole body. It’s not just about your back or shoulder. We support nutritional and fitness goals as well as co-managing with other specialist. We are also adding occupational health to our office through Clear and Comprehensive Diagnostics. We will be able to support our transportation sector with DOT/Non DOT drug testing.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
After her long trip, she would be treated to a massage at The Art of Healing Chiropractic, yes we offer massages! Afterwards we would have dinner at Masraff’s, great food and drinks.
I like food trucks! So we would definitely have to check out Chunky’s Hot Chicken and the Houston Sauce Pit both are located on Almeda. In Humble, we’d do drinks and seafood at Krab Kings. For some nighttime fun, we would visit Cidercade near downtown Houston.
Depending on the season, we would attend a game at one of the sports arenas. I like being outside. Big Rivers Waterpark in New Caney has a little bit of everything. Towards the end of the week, we would travel to Galveston to enjoy the amenities of Pleasure Pier.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family! Without the support of my husband, children, parents, brother, I could go on. They have showered me love, encouraging words and most importantly just being present.
