We had the good fortune of connecting with Cleveland Shinn and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cleveland, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
There is a certain spark of happiness that comes from being able to do what you love for a living. I love helping people and I love working on vehicles. I was able to combine the two into a business that is very satisfying for me and my customers.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
So my business name is Oddball Kustom Garage, I take care of the regular maintenance and repairs that come with customer vehicles but alongside those it wouldn’t be uncommon to see a lifted Mustang on mud tires, or a bedazzled pick up truck. Doing oddball vehicle builds is what makes my business stand out. I’ve had a lot of twist and turns but overall the road to success has been amazing. There will always be challenges and stumbling blocks. You just have to keep your head high and understand that making mistakes is a way of gaining knowledge for the future and its ok to fail because many success stories began with failures.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My inner circle of long time friends have always been the added boost of encouragement. Even when I was stretched from all ends and stressed to the max they always helped me see the positives through the negatives. Owning your own business is not easy and you have to be built inside and out mentally to be able to hang on.
