We had the good fortune of connecting with Janeen Anderson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
LUVJOY Studios is a mindfulness community that offers services including Mindful Photography, yoga, and mindfulness experiences such as women’s circles and retreats. Photography is a big industry that many would say is oversaturated, at LUVJOY we combine the experience of business leadership, yoga philosophy, humanistic psychology, and art to curate unique and mindfully led experiences for our clients. We are intentional about our process of client acquisition, connection and facilitating and elevated experience. We aspire for each client to navigate life with more self-love and joy after a LUVJOY Experience.
We started in 2017 offering only photography at the time. The first years of business was challenging, especially juggling family, a full-time leadership role, and a new business. I conducted a lot of business and photography research to identify the gaps in my business and while each business has its industry best practices, what I have found in life and in business is consistency conquers all. I talked, meditated, journaled, and digital marketed my business consistently, no matter how much engagement or notoriety LUVJOY received, we continued to show up. This is not an easy process and one reason I am such an advocate of mindfulness and self-care, because when life and business aren’t easeful, we must be rooted in a practice to fosters sustainability, strength, and amplifies our faith in what we are pursuing.
I also began to invest in editing classes and my personal education, completely my Master’s in Psychology in 2020 and currently enrolled in a Ph.D. program for Mind Body Medicine.
When I exercised consistency and aligned my thoughts, beliefs, and actions to align, I saw a drastic shift in my business and was able to pivot into full time entrepenuership. What I want people to know about LUVJOY Studios, is that our experiences are much more than pictures, our movement practices through yoga are much more than a workout, our community events are more than meetups, we are cultivating soul led experiences to support each person in navigating more deeper to their inner teacher, pure joy, and bliss through mindful photography, yoga, and concious community events.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Wow! I love being a tour guide or host, so we would definitely begin in the heart of Myrtle Beach, enjoy an early sunrise meditation or yoga class and watch the dolphins. Then we would grab breakfast in the Market Common District followed by some paddle boarding or kayaking on the intercostal waterway. Then grab lunch with friends maybe do some kareoke and then freshen ourselves up and do a sunset photoshoot at Hunington Beach State Park followed by strolling Brookgreen Gardens for a night of 1000 candles. We would finish the day with ocean view dinner at RipTydz and a night on the town at Broadway at the Beach. Throughout the week we would visit Yoga in Common for amazing yoga classes, take a day trip to Charleston for some city vibes, and attend a few mindfulness events in the Myrtle Beach Community.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
So many people and organizations have contributed to the activation of LUVJOY Studios and my personal and professional development. First off, my parents, husband, and two daughters have been the foundation for my support, creative expression, and inspiration throughout the diverse seasons of entrepreneurship; they have been my guiding light. I’m also immensely grateful for my leadership experience at companies like Target and Adidas. Though my experience I was able to truly understand the basics of business, creative entrepreneurship, and the significance of brand story telling. I’m also continuously inspired by my sister Sydni, she truly embodies the art of life as an amazing corporate leader and creative dancer. Lastly my yoga teacher training program, Soul Ascensions Healing & Arts Center, completely supported the transformation of my Highest Self and ignited a layer of passion and power I was unaware of. Yoga has forever changed my life and impacted the way I approach each moment, business venture, and creative pursuit. I’m extremely grateful to be surrounded by such inspiring, loving and creative people and have the opportunity to exercise my gifts to cultivate mindful experiences which celebrate the personal and professional endeavors of my community.
