We had the good fortune of connecting with Kayla Jenae and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kayla, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
As a bridal makeup artist I have the task of preparing brides for their special day. My aesthetic incorporates neutral colors to ensure that the wedding photos are timeless. I am usually the last person who touches the bride before she steps into her dress. It’s my job to bring my client’s vision to life and make them feel beautiful. Providing my services for weddings has been the most fulfilling aspect of my career as a freelance makeup artist.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My specialty as a makeup artist has definitely evolved over the last 7 years. I started taking clients when I was 16 and I did a lot of dramatic looks with bold colors and glitter. As of right now, I prefer to do natural looks for weddings and group events. I’ve worked in salons as well, but I prefer to run my own business. My goal for every makeup application is to enhance my client’s natural beauty.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I don’t go out very much, but if I had to choose I would go to a sports bar or a festival. I enjoy crafts, dancing, watching sports and trying new food.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have a loving family and partner who have supported me as a makeup artist for years. A lot of my referred clients are from close family and I appreciate all of them. I am eternally grateful for my inner circle. I also turn to my faith for guidance and encouragement.
