We were fortunate to catch up with some brilliant artists, creatives and entrepreneurs from throughout the Houston area and they share the wisdom with us below.

I never tought I would start making piñatas. Nobody taught me how to make a piñata, but I would sometimes make one as a hobby ever since I was a little girl. Fastforward, when my son turned 2 I had the idea to make a piñata for him, since we had a lot of free time at home because of the pandemic. That was the beginning of my piñata journey that eventually turned into Pintiño Piñatas. Every year for his birthday I would continue to make piñatas for him. Friends and family started asking me about the piñatas when they saw them at his birthday parteis and started asking me if I could make one for them.  Read More>>

Over the years, my passion for mentoring and sharing my knowledge evolved into coaching. When I got my coaching certification in 2012, I knew I wanted my practice to be a combination of working to help people succeed in their professional, personal, and spiritual goals. This led me to the name of Masterful You, which speaks to the art of mastery as well as being full of the Master of all things. Once I retired, my business expanded to coaching and consulting with individuals and teams to help leaders thrive. Because mastery results from repetitious obedience, my business focuses on establishing practices that help leaders become the best versions of themselves. Read More>>

As a mom of four with one on the way, the most important thing I’ve done is to model kindness and empathy. Teaching my girls to respect others, help those in need, and understand different perspectives has a lasting impact. I encourage open conversations about values and the importance of being themselves and responsible citizens. This foundation helps them grow into compassionate individuals who care about their community and the world around them. Read More>>

Hmm… I have to say the Holy Bible is one of the books I’ve read that has had the most impact on my life—on who I was and who I’m becoming. If I’m being honest, the Bible has a unique way of transforming a person’s life. The more you read with the intention to receive and apply, the more you begin to see the fruits. Read More>>

My kids! They are the reason I’m inspired to homeschool and do fun activities at home. I quit my fill time job in October 2023, and haven’t looked back since. I’m also inspired by all the other mom creators I’ve found along the way. There are so many talented moms who just want to be involved in their children’s education. We may be smaller creators, but we have built such a fun mom community! Read More>>

The value of relationships. Entrepreneurship and running a business can be an incredibly lonely road, that can only be made easier or harder by the people you surround yourself with. When I first started, the vast majority of my friends worked 9-5, W2 jobs and couldn’t understand why I decided to branch out on my own and leave the security of a paycheck behind. Starting your own business often means working 7 days a week, odd hours, and stress can easily mount during the start-up phase.  Read More>>

We all live stressful lives, and art is a totally different experience from our everyday reality where you paint your own world, relax, relieve stress and create whatever you want. That is exactly why I chose to be an artist – it was not about the outcome, but about enjoying the process, making something your own, and following your own rules and desires. At one point of my life, I realized that I wanted to work in a field that I enjoyed regardless of how much money I made from it. I am an artist because art brings me joy and satisfaction, and because I can share this joy and energy with other people, hoping to make a difference in their lives, as well. Read More>>

I chose to pursue an artistic and creative career because I realized that’s where my true strength lies. I’ve always had a knack for taking something simple and turning it into something personal, meaningful, and beautiful. Recently, I’ve been especially drawn to creating custom rosaries. Each one is inspired by someone close to me—whether it’s a family member’s favorite color, their personality, or just the “vibe” they give off. I’ve even started naming the rosaries after them, which adds a special personal touch. Read More>>
